Getting to know Deco Darling/Vintage at Heart!

Here is the next gorgeous lady I would love to introduce to you all Deco Darling/Vintage at Heart (Aka Harlow Darling). This lovely lady has two vintage inspired blogs for you to follow and enjoy Vintage at Heart is Harlow Darlings first blog and is inspired for her love of the 1940's/50's reproduction style clothing and accessories.  Whilst Deco Darling is inspired for Miss Harlow's love of the 1920's/Art Deco style!
Both are wonderful blogs to read, admire and enjoy.  I have loved Harlow's style for quite a while now, I follow her on instagram as well.
I actually got to meet Harlow Darling for the first time a couple of months ago, we meet in Brisbane, Australia, where we enjoyed a lovely morning tea together, chatted and took photos of each for our blogs here is the link to mine from that day:  http://missmillacherry.blogspot.com.au/2016/01/my-birthday.html
Question:  How did you come up with the name Deco Darling/Vintage at Heart for your blog/s?

Vintage at Heart was my first blog and reflected how I felt at the time about loving vintage but not actually wanting to wear authentic vintage clothing. Vintage reproduction has come a long way these days and a lot of the pieces look very authentic. I never took up wearing vintage as most of the time it’s more expensive to buy a very worn item of clothing when for the same price you could get a brand new replica, and I will always go for reproduction before vintage. My new blog Deco Darling is a combination of how darling I find Art Deco design and my online name Harlow Darling!

Question:  Please describe your blogging style?

I have a fairly casual approach to blogging, I try not to force it and only blog when I am feeling inspired by a particular outfit because I love how it looks and enjoy wearing it. Although not all of my outfits make it to the blog as I usually only have one day a week to take photos, I also upload outfits onto my instagram!

Question:  What inspired you to start blogging?

When I first discovered blogs vintage reproduction was not something that was blogged about. Most vintage bloggers would occasionally feature a vintage reproduction piece that had been gifted to them and this is how I discovered that there was an alternative to wearing vintage out there. I started blogging because I wanted to share this information with others who loved vintage looks but didn’t want to wear vintage. I also prefer to see clothing on real people instead of models in studio photo shoots before I buy an item so that I can see what the clothes will look like in real life. Normally if I am interested in buying something I will look around and see if I can find a blogger wearing it so that I can have some idea of what it actually looks like. Things look very different in online stores to what they look like in real life and a lot of the time you can get a surprise when the item you ordered actually arrives! When I blog I try to make sure that my photos give a sufficient idea of what the clothes actually look like.

Question: Describe your fashion sense/style?

When I first started blogging my style was firmly set in the 40s & 50s. I love these decades because the clothes are beautiful and still fit in well for work and everyday life. However when I first fell in love with vintage when I was 18, I was primarily interested in the 1920s & 30s. Unfortunately reproduction clothing from these decades was so scarce that I didn’t think that it would be possible to blog about them. I have now found some great companies that make reproductions of these decades and have begun building up my twenties wardrobe so I am enjoying embracing wearing clothes from these decades which have been elusive to me for so long!

Question: Do you have any favorite bloggers and if so can you please name a few?

There are so many blogs that I love, it’s actually tricky to narrow it down but here are a few I am really enjoying at this month:
Lavender & Twill, A Wild Tea Party, Nora Finds, Porcelinas World, Gussets & Goddets, Flashback Summer, Retro Cat.

Question:  What can your readers/followers expect from you and your blog over the next 12 months?

Over the next 12 months I will continue blogging on both my 1950's blog Vintage at Heart and my new 1920s blog Deco Darling and I am really looking forward to start blogging autumn/winter outfits once it finally cools down in Brisbane!
I hope you all enjoyed getting to know Harlow Darling a little more and both her blogs!
I actually hope to catch up with this beautiful lady again soon!

Until next time!
Miss Milla Cherry xo

  1. This was a great read. I love following Harlow Darling's two blogs. It's so fun to read how her story is so close to my own in terms of why she started blogging and her love for 20s and 30's styles from a young age! Fun post Camilla!

  2. Fantastic interview! I've been a devoted fan of Harlow's blog (now blogs) and elegant, feminine style for years now. She's so sweet, kind and stylish - plus she leaves really lovely blog comments, too, which I hugely appreciate.
