1930's Day Dress!

A little while ago I got in contact with Jenni Porter from Jacks Daughter ( a vintage inspired fashion etsy store) and I asked her if she could possibly make me a 1930's inspired day dress from a photo of a pattern I saw on one of Jacks Daughter's instagram post.
Which of course Jenni happily agreed to and this is the end result!  I have featured a 1940's inspired dress as well by Jacks Daughter on my blog here is the the link:  1940's Dress
I was able to choose the fabric myself and any other "special" features I wanted on the dress. I really do adore the floral print and all the colours on the cotton fabric.
My favorite features on this beautiful dress is the pleated kick in the front, the matching fabric belt, the short cuffed-sleeves and the collared-bow in the front.  That you can tie together or leave it flat over the chest like I have styled it for these photos.  There is also a few buttons down the front, under the collared-bow.
This dress fits me so well to my measurements that I gave Jenni to create for me.  I highly recommend on having something custom-made by Jenni if you're after something unique to your own personal vintage style.

Accessories Include:
Yellow heels from Bait Footwear
Bangles from Splendette
Hair-flowers from a local boutique
Tote bag by Sun Jellies

I love this wide bream vintage inspired straw hat I'm wearing for these photos. I saw follow vintage inspired blogger Harlow Darling
wearing her staw hat on her blog a couple of times and wanted one for myself. Then I actually found out I could order one for myself through Harlow Darling...yay!!  These style of hat's are so great for a hot summer's day outside, especially in Australia and come with a hat-tie to tie around securely under the chin. I wore it to a Christmas pinup picnic the other day and receive many complements on it!
In other news I haven't finish of my Christmas shopping yet, I'll have to buy the rest this weekend!  I have four days off over the Christmas break and will be spending it at home with the family this year.
Over the weekend just gone, on Saturday Mum and I assembled and decorated our Christmas Tree.
Then on Sunday I attended a Christmas pinup picnic/get together in a park, it was lovely seeing some of my "pinup" friends and having some photos taken.  There was also some wonderful Christmas raffle prizes to be won and all money raised on the day was given to a wonderful charity.  Unfortunately I didn't win anything!

This is my last blog post for 2017!  Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Until next time!

Blue Floral!

I love the 1940's Style Tea Dresses by Vivien of Holloway  There are many unique and gorgeous floral prints to choose from including this beautiful dress I'm featuring for this blog post.  It's called the Seersucker Blue Floral.  This print is just about sold out on the website but there are sizes left in other prints and colours.
Sizes range from small to extra large, just follow the measurement guide, to order the right size that fits you.
I really find the tea dresses so comfortable to wear throughout the day.  This dress is made out of a cotton - seersucker fabric.  It features padded shoulders, pockets with an A-line skirt, that is 31 inches in length.  It also has delicate lace trimming on the arm-sleeves and up near the shoulders, plus white buttons down the front to get in and out of.  This dress is also gathered at the waist, I love to add a belt to define and nip in the waist line a bit more.
All Vivien of Holloway dresses and other garments are made in London, England. They are made in limited quantities, so you feel like you're wearing a one of a kind vintage inspired garment piece.
The 1940's Style Tea Day Dress are currently available to purchase for £79.00 or around $140 (Aus) plus shipping costs.
Accessories Include:
Sandals from Bait Footwear
Hair-flower by Daisy Jean Floral Designs
Earrings by Revere Folie
Bangles from Louella Deville
These photos were taken in Auckland, New Zealand at a couple of beautiful parks near the city of Auckland.  On the day I took these photos it was a wet/overcast day, so when it stopped raining for short periods I was able to take some photos.  I adored the beautiful old trees I posed with and the buildings.
In other news, over the weekend I drove down to Brisbane (a 3 hour drive away from where I live). I caught up with family and friends, I also went shopping and I went to a burlesque show on Saturday night called Bombshell Burlesque, a good friend of mine MC's the burlesque show.  It was very entertaining to watch.
On Friday night I have my work Christmas party to go to, then on the weekend I'm driving up to Bundaberg to visit family, another friend of mine and maybe even do some Christmas shopping as well.
I can't believe Christmas is only a few weeks away, where has this year gone!?

Until next time!

Golden Floral!

As soon as I saw this awesome dress on the Miss Bamboo website I knew I had to own, wear and review this gorgeous dress!
It's called 1940's/50's Lucille dress in golden floral stems.  I actually had the opportunity to wear this dress to the Very Vintage Day Out festival a few weeks ago in Auckland, New Zealand and received many wonderful compliments on it.
I love the yellow fabric with the little floral stems and black detailing on this dress.  It also has black buttons down the front, a matching black belt buckle and loop detailing on the two front pockets and up near the collar.  It also comes with a matching fabric belt. This dress is made from 100% cotton, that I find really comfortable to wear on a hot summer's day.
Sizes range from 8 up to 18, with a lot of sizes now sold out on Miss Bamboo's website. Although there are two other fabric colours to choose from, there is a green 50's fleck colour and a grey 50's fleck with red detailing.  The retail price is £82 ($144 Aus) plus postage.  It's such a really cute, though yet a stylish dress to own and wear!
Accessories Include:
Black cowboy boot from an ebay seller.
Bangles from Los Flamingo
Hair-scarf and yellow earrings from various boutiques.

These blog photos were taken at the most wonderful gardens in New Zealand called Hamilton Gardens  I had been wanting to visit these gardens for a couple of years, after seeing the gardens on social media and other vintage fashion blogs.  I'm so happy that I had the opportunity to do so after my recent little trip over to New Zealand.  These gardens are world class, with many different styles of gardens to look at and admire. For example Japanese, English, Italian and Indian just to name a few.
In other news I've just been working really.  I haven't been up to too much lately, last Saturday I went for a drive and caught up with a follow pinup/vintage friend, we both checked out a new vintage inspired dress boutique and had lunch together.  This weekend I plan to do a little bit of housework, I have to vote tomorrow in the local state government election and hopefully take blog photos.

Until next time!

There are many beautiful dresses to choose from on their website, go and have a look for yourself!
I'm wearing the "A stitch in time, Ava" dress.  This dress is wonderfully made and designed, I love the print and the colours.  It features a unique mandarin keyhole neckline and button feature. It also comes with a full gathered skirt that you can wear with or without a petticoat, I choose without for these photos.  I also love that it comes with a matching poker-dot belt to go with the cute little buttons down the front. This dress also has hidden lipstick pockets...yay!!  I also adore the cute little sleeves and it's so comfortable to wear throughout the day!  I actually wore this beautiful dress to the Very Vintage Day Out festival in Auckland a few weeks ago and I received many compliments on it!

These photos were taken in New Zealand at a beautiful historical homestead and gardens, called Woodlands Estate located in Gordonton.  There are so many wonderful scenery backgrounds to take photos at, the gardens and homestead are just absolutely amazing to visit and look at!  Woodlands Estate hosts many weddings and functions on their private grounds and entry to the property is free for visitors like myself.  There is also a cafe located on the estate, with many yummy treats to choose from, I enjoyed something to eat whilst I was there.  If you ever get the chance I highly recommend on visiting Woodlands Estate!
In other news I'm back at work again, even though I have had to take the last couple of days of due to being unwell.  This year I have been sick with a few nasty colds and coughs! More than usual anyway.
I really can't believe we're on the countdown to Christmas, where has this year gone?  I haven't got many events to attend to between now and Christmas, I do hope to catch up with my friends though, before Christmas

Until next time!

Pinup Faces!

A couple of months ago I ended up scoring this awesome dress for a great price on a facebook buy/sell/swap group.  It's the "Drive in Dress in Wink Print" by Bernie Dexter
I just love the face print on this dress  and the three main colours of white, black and red. It's such an effective, unique print, that really stands out!
This dress is 100% cotton and has hidden lipstick pockets. It comes with a matching black patent belt.  I just adore the shirt style dress, but what makes it even better is the zip down the front, instead of using buttons.  This is such a great idea, for a number of reasons. For example it's so much easier and quicker to do up, there is no pulling/gaping with buttons (especially if you have a bigger bust) and there is no need to worry about sewing on buttons, if any do fall of. Also it is so comfortable to wear throughout the day.  There is still many sizes left on the Bernie Dexter website, if you would love to purchase this dress.  Sizes range from XS to 4XL and retails for $172.00 (U.S dollars)
Accessories Include:
Black heels from Bait Footwear
Hat and bangle are thrifted
Brooch is by Deer Arrow
Earrings from a local boutique
These photos were taken at home in my Mum's beautifully decorated formal lounge/dining room. My Mum loves decorating a room with antique inspired furniture and pieces.
In other news I had a great little holiday in New Zealand, I went over for five nights. I stayed in both Auckland and Hamilton.  The weekend just gone I attended The Very Vintage Day Out in Auckland on both the Saturday and Sunday. I had the opportunity to meet in person a few of the gorgeous pinups I follow on instagram, including the gorgeous Miss Hero Holliday  I have been following both her blog and instagram for quite a while now, she is such a beautiful young lady.  The festival was a lot of fun, there were markets, entertainment, some vintage cars and of course the Miss New Zealand pinup competition - the top 10 finalists, were all so wonderful to watch and cheer on, especially watching their talents been performed on stage.
I also did some tourist things for example I went up the sky tower (a 61 floor look-out building) and I went to the Hobbiton movie set, where all the hobbits live in both The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies.
I also took some photos in a few different outfits at a number of beautiful locations and places, that I'll be sharing on my blog in the coming weeks, so please do keep a look out.
Unfortunately my holidays are nearly over, I have to go back to work on Monday!

Until next time!

Picnic on the Farm!

This beautiful and stylish dress is by Miss Candyfloss  I love wearing this brand, as I find there clothing, especially there dresses are very comfortable to wear, constructed to a high quality and fit really well on me.
This dress is the Ronja-Rose-Sleeveless Daisy Print Picnic Dress.  I love the red and white together. Although I especially adore the gingham/daisy print on the top and bottom of this dress and on the matching belt.

This dress is sleeveless (is great for a picnic on a summer's day) it has a hidden side zip, a pleated bust-line and the neck-line in V shaped.  You can wear this dress with or without a petticoat - I choose without to take these photos for my blog.
Sizes range from XS to 2XL and it retails on the Miss Candyfloss website for $134.20 (US) or $172 (Aus) plus shipping costs.  It's made out of 62% polyester, 32% viscose and 6% spandex and is made in Transylvania, Romania.

White hat is from Target Australia
Hair-flowers are by Shazam Pinup Hair Flowers

These photos for my blog were taken on a private property near Maryborough, Queensland. There  were a number of different backgrounds I could use for my photos for example old sheds, trees, fences and an old red pickup truck.  I really do love finding new locations to take my photos at!
After having about six week's off from blogging I'm slowly getting back into it, as I do have a number of outfits I have to blog over the coming weeks.
Over the last six weeks I've attended a few pinup/vintage festivals and pageants. I coordinated my first ever pinup competition for the Rockin' Maryborough Vintage Festival, in September. That I received positive feedback from.
I purchased myself a brand new car, a 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer (black edition). Also my beautiful cat Brandy of 21 years old had to be put to sleep, last week! :(
At the moment I'm getting excited as I'm going on holidays soon, I'm flying over to New Zealand next week and I'll be going to The Very Vintage Day Out in Auckland next weekend.  I also hope to take blog photos over in NZ as well.
I'll let you all know how my New Zealand trip goes, after I return back to Australia!
Also we have been getting a lot of rain, this is very unusual for this time of the year.  It hasn't stopped raining here for about three to four days now!  I had wanted to take photos again over the weekend but the rain put a stop to that!  :(

Until next time!

Yellow and Pink!

For this week's blog post I'm featuring another wonderful outfit by Vivien of Holloway
I do love wearing and owning pieces from Vivien of Holloway they're definitely one of my favorite vintage inspired brands, because of  value for money and their unique, one of a kind outfits.
These yellow 1940's inspired swing trousers are made from a light 100% crepe material, that has some stretch to it.  The pants are high-waisted, have four side buttons to get in and out of and have a cute little pocket on the right hand side.  Nearly all sizes are now sold out on the website in this exact colour, though there are other sizes left in other colours, for example purple, black and teal.  I own at least five pairs of Vivien of Holloway's swing trousers, in other colours and fabrics. They are so comfortable, yet stylish to wear.  You can purchase a pair for £59 ($97 Aus) plus postage.
The blouse I'm wearing is also by Vivien of Holloway it's the Gypsy top in a pink and yellow, sea sucker fabric.  I do love pink and yellow together, so I was happy that this top goes well with these yellow swing trousers.  The top has little capped sleeves and elasticated sleeves, neck and waist band.  I found this top quite comfortable to wear throughout the day.  It's available to purchase for £28 ($46 Aus) and does come in other colours and lengths for example the longer style, that I'm wearing and the midi and cropped style.  Note: a lot of sizes have sold out, due to the fact there are only a limited amount of sizes released at a time for us vintage/pinup ladies to purchase.
Accessories Include:
Yellow "Robbie" Heels from Bait Footwear
Pink handbag from Sun Jellies
Brooch and necklace from Erstwilder
Earrings from Revere Folie
Bangles from Splendette and Susan Jane Jewellery
Hair-scarf is thrifted
After this week's blog post, I'm taking a few weeks off from blogging.  As I'll be busy preparing for The Rockin' Maryborough Vintage Festival, it's on the weekend of the 16/17 September this year.  I'm in charge of three pinup comps, so I have to make sure I have everything planned and ready for that weekend.
In other news I've been unwell with a cold, I've had to take the last two days off from work to rest and get better. Also as I have previously said I've just been busy with preparing the pinup comps for the Maryborough vintage festival.  I have three comps I'm preparing for this year the 18 plus one (12 finalists in total) the teens (8 finalists) and the children's comp, it's for both boys and girls to enter.  Hopefully it's a great weekend for everyone!
Anyway I'll let you all know in a few weeks how everything went!

Until next time!
