Getting to Know Gracefully Vintage!

Here is the next stylish lady I love to introduce to you all.  Kayla aka Gracefully Vintage
I've been following Kayla now for around two years both on her instagram account http://instagram.com/gracefullyvintage  and her own blog!

I just love Kayla's own vintage inspired style, her photos are always so wonderful, fun and beautiful.  I always find her blog posts very insightful and entertaining to read!
She has such an amazing selection of outfits and accessories. Also her puppy dogs (which often feature in her blog photos) are so cute!
Question:  How did you come up with the name Gracefully Vintage for your blog?

I was having a hard time coming up with a name for my blog, Grace Kelly is
one of my style icons and favourite actresses so I thought why not work that in somehow with my love of vintage!? So I combined the two and came up with GracefullyVintage. There isn't that much to it, but I still like my blog name so that's always a good thing!

Question:  Please describe your blogging style?

I like to think of my blog as an archive of my outfits that just doesn't end, this includes outfits that I wear each week and a little bit of insight into my week... Though I seem to talk about the weather a lot (Blogger problems haha)! I try not to take it to seriously and usually like to be pretty practical about blogging and my outfits. A lot of the time I am out with my dogs at the park or beach, I don't mind if the wind makes my hair a little crazy!
I blog a lot of swimwear during summer as I spend a lot of time at the beach and am swimwear obsessed. Along with the outfit posts I review the items to an extent e.g. sizing advice and my verdict on the garments. Just general information that I look for when reading other blogs too.
Question:  What inspired you to start blogging?

When I first started reading fashion blogs quite a few years ago I found it to be really entertaining and an exciting way to see personal style and the creativity that some people have when it comes to blogging. I was looking for an outlet at the time and was inspired to give it a go. I have always enjoyed taking photos and having my picture taken + I was also really keen on the idea of having a place to update each week with my outfits. My style and wardrobe has changed quite dramatically over time but I like to occasionally go back and have a look at the early days of my blog.

Question:  Describe your fashion sense/style?

I have never been one to stick to a certain era and I usually dress depending on how I feel that day. I love so many eras and I like to have fun with them all! Some days I dress 50s, 60s mod, 40s or 20s - Maybe even some boho 60s/70s too... I love them all and the different make-up and hairstyling techniques that go with it. I also like seeing so many different styles of clothing in my wardrobe.
Question:  Do you have any favourite bloggers and if so can you please name a few?

Some of my favourite blogs include CiCi Marie <http://www.cici-marie.com/>, Porcelina's
World <http://www.porcelinasworld.com/>, Silver Cat Tea Party
<http://silvercatteaparty.blogspot.com.au/>, RetroCa <http://retrocat.de/>t, Chicago Chic Blog <http://chicagochicblog.blogspot.com.au/>, Chronically Vintage <http://chronicallyvintage.com>, Flipsville <http://welcometoflipsville.blogspot.com.au/> and of course I love your blog!
There are so many more that I love to read but I will try to keep it to a minimum for now.

Question:  What can your readers/followers expect from you and your blog over the next 12 months?

More outfit posts, maybe some lifestyle posts and hopefully more sewing posts as I have so much fabric but have been unsure about what to make for a while.
I hope you all enjoyed my little interview regarding Kayla's blog Gracefully Vintage, a little better!
I'm very grateful she agreed to take part in my blogger interview series!

Until next time!

Lady of the Manor!

A couple of weeks ago, I ordered this beautiful Bernie Dexter dress from an Australian rockabilly/pinup clothing and accessories online boutique called Stars and Swallows
Stars and Swallows is based out of Brisbane, Queensland.
Stars and Swallows sell ladies vintage inspired/pinup/rockabilly clothing e.g. dresses, skirts, tops, cardigans, pants, petticoats. As well as accessories such as handbags, purses, belts, jewellery, hair-accessories, sunglasses etc which are all from well-known brands for example Bernie Dexter, Collectif, Voodoo Vixen, Steady, Hell Bunny, Sourpuss etc
Also you can purchase men's and children's clothing and accessories, plus home-ware items as well, they have such a great selection!
Stars and Swallows ship to Australia and to world-wide customers - please check out this great company for yourself! Which you can them on facebook, instagram and their own website: http://www.starsandswallows.com.au/
This dress is by Bernie Dexter and is called the 1950s Cream & Black Floral Manor Paris Swing Dress. Which is currently been sold out through Bernie Dexter but still can be found on other rockabilly/pinup/vintage clothing boutiques, like Unique Vintage and Pinup Girl Clothing there is actually a few sizes left through Stars and Swallows.
I just adore the print on this dress with the pink roses and the Victorian/Manor style art work around the bottom of the dress and on the front bust.
This dress is 100% cotton, has a back zipper to get in and out off, has hidden lipstick pockets, a gathered swing skirt and a elasticized shelf bust.
This is my second Paris style Bernie Dexter dress, as I find this style to be flattering to my body shape and to my personal taste!
Extra note: always measure yourself correctly for Bernie Dexter dresses, as most of her dresses do not have any stretch to them, as they're made out of 100% cotton.
Accessories Include:
Shoes are thrifted
Petticoat is from an ebay seller
Black gloves from Kitten D'amour
Vintage hat is thrifted
Earrings from Colette by Colette Hayman
These blog photos were taken by my Mum in and around the lovely gardens of this beautiful grand home in Maryborough, Queensland called Baddow House, I am very thankful the owner allowed me to take some photos around his private gardens. Baddow House was built in 1883 and is currently up for sale!  I actually had a hard time picking out the best photos to share with you for this blog post, as Mum took many and there were so many lovely backdrops to choose from!
In other news I spent the weekend up in Bundaberg, Queensland visiting family and meeting up with Miss Vera Gin Vintage again to take more wonderful blog photos, which should be shared on my blog in the coming weeks.

Apart from that I've been busy at work and with family/home life.

Until next time!
