Birthday Girl!

It was my birthday last week and I knew I wanted to take "Birthday style" photos for my blog. I decided to pose with balloons that would match my dress!
I actually had to go to work on my Birthday, so I didn't do anything special.  It was really just another day, expect for all the facebook birthday messages I received!  My Mum gave me a gorgeous picture print to hang up on my wall, a card and some birthday balloons.

The dress I'm wearing in these photos is from an Australian brand Retrospec'd.  It's called "Sun, fruit basket dress in white", and there are a couple of sizes left, size 12 and 16 on the Retrospec'd web-page to purchase.  It is made out of 100% cotton twill, has a back zipper to get in and out of, a pleated skirt and has adjustable thin straps.
It's a great frock to wear over the summer months, because of the thin straps and the light cotton material.  I love the fruit print on the white background and the red border on the bottom of this dress and the pleated bust-line.
Note:  It didn't come with a matching belt, so I chose to wear one I already own from a previous dress.

Accessories Include:
Heels from Bait Footwear
Handbag by Sun Jellies
Earrings and bangles from local boutiques
Necklace by Collectif Clothing
Fruit hair-piece from Louella-deville
This week's blog photos were taken by my good friend "Miss Vera Vamp" at the botanical gardens in Bundaberg, Queensland and by a cool graffiti artwork of a rose under a traffic bridge.
In the gardens, whilst taking photos we were both being attacked and surrounded by annoying mosquitoes.  As it was late afternoon and was really hot and humid.
In other news over the weekend my Mum, my sister and myself went out for a drive to the shops and had lunch together for both Mum's and my birthday's.  Also I did some housework chores and took more blog photos of another outfit, that I'll share on here next week.
On Thursday it's Australia Day, which is a public holiday and I get to have a day off from work.  At this stage I have no set plans for celebrating Australia Day - probably just a quiet day at home.
Also I'm on the countdown (in two weeks) until I go away for a few days and have some time off from work.

Until next time!

Mahjong Game!

When I saw this Trashy Diva dress came up for sale on a facebook buy/sell/swap group for a good price, in my size, in a cute print and a style of dress I love. I knew I had to bite the bullet and purchase it for myself!  I've actually been wanting to own and wear a Trashy Diva outfit for quite a while now, I'm really happy to finally do so!
It's called the Annette dress in Mahjong print.
This dress has many wonderful features including hidden pockets, it is fully lined and has a back zip with hook and eye to get in and out of.  It's made from a lightweight cotton voile, and has a knee length gathered skirt.  I love the gathered round neckline and the skinny straps that are adjustable with buttons to achieve the best fit. Note: It also comes with a matching belt, but I choose to wear a black wide retro belt instead from Pinup Girl Clothing.
I adore the colorful Mahjong tiles on the white background, it's such a unique print for a retro inspired dress.
Currently this dress retails on the Trashy Diva website for $176 (U.S.) but I was able to purchase it for half that price, thanks to lovely lady selling hers on facebook!  This dress ranges in sizes from 6 up to 24.
Accessories Include:
Heels from Bait Footwear
Vintage hat is thrifted
Bangles and parasol is thrifted
Sparrow brooch by Erstwilder
Earrings from Colette by Colette Hayman
This week's blog photos were taken on my own at a Japanese theme gardens down at Hervey Bay, Queensland at the botanical gardens. I thought these gardens would suit this Asian inspired print and dress perfectly. There were so many great backdrops to choose from in the gorgeous gardens!
In other news it has been so terribly hot here in Queensland over the last week, it's been one of the longest running heat waves in quite a while.  As well as the high temperature heat, we also have the humidity which in an absolute killer! My family and I have been living in air conditioning at home both day and night.
Also it's actually my birthday tomorrow, I don't have anything planned as I'm working.  Although over the weekend just gone my good friend took "special birthday" blog photos for me, which I shall feature on my blog next week!

Until next time!

My Birthday!

On Saturday I drove down to Brisbane, Queensland (which is a 3 hour drive from where I live) and spent a few days down there. I Caught up with friends, family, had a couple of photo-shoots and I attended a friends baby shower.  Whilst I was in Brisbane it was actually my Birthday on the Monday and I got to spend a few hours with a gorgeous follow blogger whom I've been wanting to meet for a while now! A lot of you might know her as Miss Harlow Darling this is the link to her blog:  http://www.harlowdarling.com/
We both meet up and had a lovely brunch together, chatted for a while and then went to the Brisbane Botanical gardens and took photos of each other!  I had such a wonderful time getting to know Miss Harlow better and taking photos with her, I hope to catch up with her again in the near future.
We both wore dresses from the vintage reproduction brand Retrospec'd   http://retrospecd.com/
I wore my Betty Fruit Basket dress by Retrospec'd.
I adore the fruit basket print, the light cotton fabric, the pockets, length and all the colours on this gorgeous dress. This dress also came with a matching belt but I decided to wear another one instead.
I accessorized with a pair of flats from Payless Shoes
Fruit hair-piece was Your One Stop Pinup Shop   http://www.yosps.com.au/
Red cat-eye sunglasses from an ebay seller.
Necklace is vintage, bangles are thrift-ed, brooch is by Atomic Mingo
Belt and wicker purse is by Pinup Couture   https://www.pinupgirlclothing.com/

I prefer taking blog photos with someone else as it's much more fun, easier and I feel a lot more braver taking photos out in the "public" with someone, other then on my own setting a timer on my camera. This weekend I hope to get some really great photos by the beach with Vera Gin Vintage.
I'm really happy that these photos turned out quite good, as being a little cloudy on the day helped with the photos not having a lot of glare to them.

I'm really looking forward to receiving my photos back from two photo-shoots I had done over the weekend and sharing them with you all in the near future!

Until next time!

Butterflies!

I bought this beautiful dress from a lady through a facebook buy/sell/swap group, for a reasonable price. This dress is by an Australian vintage reproduction brand called Retrospec'd   http://retrospecd.com/
This dress is called the Bella Butterfly.
I currently own five dresses from this brand and is now one of my favorite vintage reproduction brands. As well as dresses Retrospec'd also sell skirts, tops, pants, shorts, petticoats, shoes and pyjamas plus some menswear.
I love the print on this dress with the butterflies and floral design on the blue/turquoise 100% cotton twill fabric. This dress  has short capped sleeves, a ruffled bust line and a zip up the back to get in and out off.. On the Retrospec'd website the Bella dresses are not suitable for ladies with a larger bust line. So that means this dress is perfect for me!
I accessorize this dress with a pair of white peep-toe flats from Target Australia.
My new to me Pinup Couture purple wicker handbag, which I absolutely love!
Butterfly hair-clips and bangles from a local accessories boutique.
I also wore a petticoat from Lindybop other the dress.
From this weekend I'm on holidays for a week...yay!!   I'm planning on catching up with friends, attending a baby shower, having a couple of photo-shoots, meeting up with another vintage blogger friend, celebrating my birthday, my Mum's birthday, my niece/nephew birthdays and taking blog photos with my pinup friend and vintage blogger Miss Vera Gin Vintage. So expect some awesome upcoming blog posts!

Until next time!

Birthday Picnic and Vintage Fashions!

On the weekend (Sunday) I went to my friends Birthday picnic/BBQ at a local Botanical Gardens, after we all had finish our lunch, I asked a few of my friends if they wanted to take some photos together in the gardens. Which of course they said yes to if was just us ladies who were dressed up in "pinup".

After having some lovely photos taken together, a few of us girls went to see an Australian movie called The Dressmaker this movie is set in the 1950's and stars Kate Winslet, Liam Hemsworth, Hugo Weaving and Judy Davis.  I really loved this movie, especially the beautiful 1950's costumes...just stunning!
For these photos I wore my sunflower Hell Bunny dress,  my new sunflower hair-flower from Daisy Jean Floral http://daisyjeanfloraldesigns.com/
Betty Jo sparrow brooch from Erstwilder http://www.erstwilder.com/
and a pair of white peep-toe shoes from Target Australia.
I really enjoyed the day, it's so good to "hang out" with girlfriends whom dress similar to myself and enjoy having photos taken!

For my day off from work today I decided to wear this gorgeous 1950's Atomic print dress by Love ur Look Clothing  http://www.loveurlook.co.uk/
and to take some photos for my blog.
This week apart from working, I've been trying to organize a few girls that live locally and who also wear's pinup/vintage style clothing to help out with a little 1940's/50's fashion show I'm organizing for next week for the residents I take care of in an Aged care facility I work at.
I've asked the girls to bring along at least two outfits to parade around in and that are inspired from the 1940's and 50's.  Hopefully I will have enough girls for next week, as I really want the fashion show to be enjoyed by all!
Today was a really hot day here in Queensland, Australia. Apparently though over the next week, it will be getting hotter. Summer is here in Australia!!
I'm accessorizing this dress with my retro sunglasses by Collectif  https://www.collectif.co.uk/
a Betty Bo necklace, a red printed hair-scarf, a couple of bangles and a pair of red floral earrings.

Until next time!

Pretty Lavender!

Today's outfit blog post is about this pretty dress by the vintage reproduction brand Hell Bunny. I decided to accessorize this dress with my peacock brooch, white straw hat and my white cat-eye sunglasses.

This dress was a birthday gift at the start of the year that I was able to pick out for myself. At first I wasn't sure I wanted this dress, as to me it looked too costume style liked and not actually a 1950's repro dress! But it soon won me over with the lavender color, the little white poker-dots, the heart-shape pockets, the white lace down around the bottom edging of the dress and the ribbon corset-style tie up in the front. This dress is so girly and yet so fun to wear.
Actually when I wore this dress the other day to the shops a lady did asked me if I was off to a fancy dress up party! Which i replied "no, this is how I dress all the time!"
My Oktober dress is by Hell Bunny, which I bought from Cherry Tree Lane Fashion (find on facebook).
My white peep-toe shoes are from Target.
The peacock brooch is from a vintage market store holder.
The white straw hat is also from Target and my white cat-eye sunglasses are from an ebay seller.
In the photo above is such a glorious lavender field. I would love to have photos taken here, whilst wearing my pretty Oktober dress!

Until next time!

My Birthday gifts!

Hi all!
Yesterday was my birthday, I didn't do much though as I had to work, even though it was a Sunday! I work every second weekend as an Aged Care worker, that's shift work for ya!
But I'm planning on going out for dinner one night this week, with some of the family.

I did receive heaps of birthday messages on both facebook and instagram, which I appreciated very much.

Anyway for my birthday I mostly was give some money this year, so I can purchase for myself what I wanted!
But I did received this really cute flamingo wall print from my sister.

I haven't found a area in my place to hang it, as of yet but I'm sure I will.

Today a parcel came in the mail for me, it was a pink flamingo handbag from the vintage reproduction company called Banned. This gift was from my Mum.

This handbag is from a rockabilly store in Queensland called Poison Kandy Klothing this is their website: http://www.poisonkandyklothing.com.au/

I love this bag, it's just so adorable with the pink flamingos, flowers and the pink background.

Also my Brother and his girlfriend gave me some money, which I'm going to use to pay the rest of on a dress I've had on lay-by from my local rockabilly/pinup store called Cherry Tree Lane Fashion (you can find on facebook).

This dress is from the brand vintage reproduction brand Hell Bunny, I really love this dress, the color, the white poker-dots, heart shape pockets, white sleeves etc. I am somewhat worried though it's going to look more costume inspired, then rockabilly/vintage/pinup inspired.

Anyway this dress is somewhat different and should be fun to wear!

I've also just ordered my first Luxulite brooch with some of the money I received, which should come in the mail, in the next two weeks.

This is the exact brooch I ordered, I'm looking forward to wearing it with some of my outfits!

I love the little red cherries and the colorful confetti back pin.

I'm also wanting to buy a couple of other fashion accessories, with my birthday money. Which will be  a blue rockabilly/pinup belt to accessorize with some of my outfits and a red hibiscus hair flower.

In the coming weeks, I hope to show these pretties in some of my outfit posts!

Until next time!

My dresses wishlist!!

Currently at the moment I have three dresses I currently want in my wardrobe and to wear myself of course!

Plus my Birthday is coming up soon, so that's always another excuse to buy some pretties for myself, or to receive some!!
The first is by the vintage reproduction brand called Bernie Dexter (I currently have this beautiful dress on order and hopefully it will arrive any day now).
This dress is called Veronquie dress in serenity bridge print. I just love the style and the print on this dress, just so beautiful! I just hope it fits well, when I received it in the post!

The next is from an Australian vintage reproduction brand called Retrospec'd, I've just put this dress on lay-by for myself through Miskonduct Klothing (an Australian boutique) http://www.miskonduct.com/

This dress is called Betty Fruit Basket in Black. I love the dress style, fabric fruit print and colors of this dress - just so very pretty!

The next dress I hope to receive as part of my birthday gifts. Which is from the vintage reproduction brand called Hell Bunny. I should receive this dress through my favorite local rockabilly/pin-up boutique called Cherry Tree Lane Fashion (you can find on facebook).
I would like either the lilac or green color one, which one do you think? Either color looks really lovely. I really love the style once again, with the white collar and poker-dots and the back of this dress, so stylish! These dresses are called Karen dress by Hell Bunny.

What dresses are on your wishlist?

Until next time!
