Royal Blue!

Hi all!

How's you're week been so far?  Over the weekend, just gone my husband and I went out for dinner and had a few drinks on the Friday night at our local RSL club.  On the Saturday we both did our fortnightly grocery shop and on the Sunday we went for a drive down to Hervey Bay, Queensland to get a few items for our new budgie Cheeky Tiki at a pet shop down there.  My husband and I also had some lunch down there as well!  That same afternoon I had the opportunity to have a mini photoshoot at a local 1950's inspired diner called Happy Days Diner for an upcoming blog post - keep an eye out for that!
Anyway I'm half-way through another working week, this weekend will be a long weekend here in Queensland so I'm looking forward to having three days off!
For this blog post I'm reviewing this beautiful 1940's inspired dress by a company called Sheen Clothing unfortunely though as a customer like myself you cannot buy direct from them through their website you have to purchase through a stockist company. I was able to purchase this dress from a UK vintage inspired clothing company called Cherry Red Vintage
This dress is called Ava 1940's Royal Blue Tea Dress, I'm wearing a size 18 and it fits like a glove on me.  There are many sizes left to purchase and it's currently on sale for a discounted price on the Cherry Red Vintage website!
I just loved this colour of blue and the 1940's inspired style. The material is made of a 100% polyester, and is a lightweight crepe.
Some of the features to this wonderful dress is the white floral embroidery on each side on the front of this dress. There is also a scalloped bust detail and it also has ties on the collar and on the sleeves.  There is a hidden back zipper to get in and out of and the skirt is panelled.  I do love a 1940's inspired dress and this one ticks all the right boxes for me!                                                                                                Go and have a look at the Cherry Red Vintage website, as there are other Sheen Clothing dresses to admire and even purchase for yourself!

Accessories Include:
Blue vintage inspired hat is by Belbeina Lee
Bangles and Earrings by Splendette
White Handbag by Pinup Girl Clothing
Blue Sandals by Charlie Stone Shoes
These blog photos for shoot by my amazing husband down at a park in Hervey Bay, Queensland.
Hervey Bay is a beachside town, that is a 20 minute drive away from where I live in Maryborough.
Lots of tourists visit Hervey Bay, mainly for two reasons as it's right next door to one of the biggest sand islands in the world - Fraser Island and also every year around July to October there is a large migration of humpback whales that spend some time in the warm calm waters of Hervey Bay to mate to give birth and to show off.  Tourists and locals go out on special whale watching boats to admire the whales socially interact with each other!

Until next time!

Freddies of Pinewood!

Hi all!
This week I'm going to review these two awesome outfits by UK vintage inspired clothing company Freddies of Pinewood
This company has been a favorite of mine for around three years. They're a favorite because of their high-quality denim jeans, skirts, dungarees and 1940's work-style blouses.  All their garments are made in England and are very true to the 1940's and 1950's era.
The first outfit I'm featuring this week is this cute 1940's work-style blouse and brown companion 1940's denim pants.  These pants actually come with a removable bib, they can been worn as dungarees as well.  I love the idea you can wear choose to wear just the pants or as dungarees.
The pants are made from a 100% cotton denim and are high-waisted.  They come with four buttons, on the four front patch pockets. Plus a zip and button, down the side to get in and out of.  I'm wearing a size 34".  These 1940's style pants are so comfortable to wear throughout the day. I have own these for a few years now and I still love to wear them. There are many sizes still available to purchase on the Freddies of Pinewood website.
The pink with brown poker dots 1940's work blouse, is made of 100% cotton, has small buttons down the front and a front patch pocket on the left side.  This exact top is now sold out, but there are many other colours to choose from. I'm wearing a size 14, I find it a little tight to wear around the waist-line, because of the waistband. I think a size 16 may have been a better fit for me.
Accessories Include:
Brown boots from Target Australia
Handbag from Word from the Bird
Bangles by Los Flamingo
Sunglasses from a local boutique
Brooch by Rock n Retro
The second outfit I'm featuring this week by Freddies of Pinewood is this black denim jeans skirt and multi-colour seasucker blouse.  Unfortunately for you this blouse is now sold out on the website.  I just love all the colours and the cute red vintage style buttons down the front.  As this blouse doesn't have a waistband you can tuck it into a pair of high-waisted pants or a skirt, like I have in these photos.
The black denim skirt is made of a lightweight denim and has belt-loops and a adjustable waistband with two snaps. I do love this idea, as you can wear the skirt a bit more loser or tighter around the waist, it depends on your preference. It also has a hidden side zip, two front deep pockets and two back pockets. The black version is now sold out on the Freddies of Pinewood website but there are the blue, green and red options available. I'm wearing a size 34" and it fits perfectly on me.
If you're after a great pair of 1940's or 1950's denim skirts or pants, I highly recommend on ordering yourself something from Freddies of Pinewood  They also sell men's vintage inspired jeans and tops.
Accessories Include:
Saddle shoes by Bettie Page Shoes purchased with Nicole Jade Boutique
Western belt from a local clothing boutique
Bangles by Splendette
Brooch by Deer Arrow
Earrings by Revere folie

These photos were taken by my wonderful, supportive partner at two different parks in Maryborough, Queensland.
Next week I'll be reviewing two dresses by UK vintage reproduction company Collectif Clothing

Until next time!

Blue Floral!

I love the 1940's Style Tea Dresses by Vivien of Holloway  There are many unique and gorgeous floral prints to choose from including this beautiful dress I'm featuring for this blog post.  It's called the Seersucker Blue Floral.  This print is just about sold out on the website but there are sizes left in other prints and colours.
Sizes range from small to extra large, just follow the measurement guide, to order the right size that fits you.
I really find the tea dresses so comfortable to wear throughout the day.  This dress is made out of a cotton - seersucker fabric.  It features padded shoulders, pockets with an A-line skirt, that is 31 inches in length.  It also has delicate lace trimming on the arm-sleeves and up near the shoulders, plus white buttons down the front to get in and out of.  This dress is also gathered at the waist, I love to add a belt to define and nip in the waist line a bit more.
All Vivien of Holloway dresses and other garments are made in London, England. They are made in limited quantities, so you feel like you're wearing a one of a kind vintage inspired garment piece.
The 1940's Style Tea Day Dress are currently available to purchase for £79.00 or around $140 (Aus) plus shipping costs.
Accessories Include:
Sandals from Bait Footwear
Hair-flower by Daisy Jean Floral Designs
Earrings by Revere Folie
Bangles from Louella Deville
These photos were taken in Auckland, New Zealand at a couple of beautiful parks near the city of Auckland.  On the day I took these photos it was a wet/overcast day, so when it stopped raining for short periods I was able to take some photos.  I adored the beautiful old trees I posed with and the buildings.
In other news, over the weekend I drove down to Brisbane (a 3 hour drive away from where I live). I caught up with family and friends, I also went shopping and I went to a burlesque show on Saturday night called Bombshell Burlesque, a good friend of mine MC's the burlesque show.  It was very entertaining to watch.
On Friday night I have my work Christmas party to go to, then on the weekend I'm driving up to Bundaberg to visit family, another friend of mine and maybe even do some Christmas shopping as well.
I can't believe Christmas is only a few weeks away, where has this year gone!?

Until next time!

Lana Floral!

This week I'm reviewing this gorgeous 1940's style floral dress from one of my favorite vintage inspired brands Vivien of Holloway
This dress is the "Lana in yellow floral".  This particular print in the "Lana" is now sold out on the website. There are many other prints and colours to choose from still in the 1940's Lana style.  I actually own four of these style dresses, I just love them that much!  I adore the 1940's style, the longer A-line skirt length, the draped detailed neckline, the pockets and the many unique prints and fabrics to choose from.  All these dresses are limited in numbers for each size, so you have to be pretty quick to order one, otherwise they will sell out.
Only tiny downside for me personally is that around the upper torso area it is pretty roomy so I usually try and add a belt to give the dress more shape to it, for my body.
This dress is made from a light polyester, so the fabric is breathable and comfortable to wear throughout the day.  It has a side zip, two side pockets, padded shoulders and that distinctive draping square neckline. The A-line skirt measures 31 inches long.  As I mention above this particular style is sold out, but there are still many other prints to choose from.  Sizes range from 10 up to 24, just follow the size chart to your own measurements to get the best fit as possible.  I ordered size 18, as the measurements fit my waist, although it is a bit too big around the bust.
The Lana sells for £99 ($160 Aus) plus shipping costs.
Accessories Include:
Yellow Robbie Heels by Bait Footwear
Vintage handbag from a facebook buy/swap/sell group
Pink belt, earrings and bangles from Louella Deville Boutique
Tropical hair-flower from Gigis Retro Closet
These photos were taken at an old Queenslander house located at Howard, Queensland, Australia.  The Queenslander is called Brooklyn House
A Queenslander is mostly found in Queensland, Australia.  These homes were built for our hot and humid, tropical weather. They were built with verandahs around the home, made out of timber and built on low or high stilts.  This allowed for ventilation to help cool the house down in summer.
This gorgeous house was built in 1890.  The current owners open their home for tours and you can stop by for a Devonshire tea and a scone. At present the owners have their home for sale.
I'm very grateful and happy that allowed me to take my photos on their beautiful property.
In other news I've been working and over the past weekend, I stayed at home and caught up on some house chores etc.  I've also been trying to organize some sponsors for the Rockin' Maryborough Vintage Festival Pinup comps for September!

Until next time!

Mary Rose!

I've been wanting to purchase a 1940's inspired dress from Heyday Vintage for a while now.  A couple of months I was able to order the Mary Dress in Deco Rose in Red.
Heyday Vintage specialized in vintage reproduction garments from the 1930's up to the 1950's.  Personally I believe their clothing look and feel like a true vintage piece!
They sell both Women's and Men's clothing, including dresses, skirts, tops and blouses, trousers, jackets, shirts and suits.
The Mary dress is a gorgeous 1940's inspired garment.  I love the white roses and leaves on the red background.  Other features to this dress is the back zipper...Yay! I much prefer back zippers to side zippers in dresses, so much easier to zip up.  It also has small shoulder pads and a pleated V shape neckline.  I ordered size 16 and it fits quite well on my body, even the sleeves are not to tight for my arms.  The material is 100% Matt polyester, and is lightweight and breathable to wear.  Sizing ranges from 6 up to 20, there is only a few sizes left in this print though.  Their are other sizes available in other beautiful prints of the Mary dress.  Currently this dress is available to purchase for £80 or around $135 (Aus) plus shipping.
Accessories Include:
Heels from Bait Footwear
Red wicker handbag from Pinup Girl Clothing
Brooch from Deer Arrow
Rose hair-flower from Daisy Jean Floral Designs
Red back-seam stockings by What Katie Did
Sunglasses by Collectif
Bangle is thrifted
Earrings from a local boutique
I took these photos for my blog at a Japanese gardens, located in Toowoomba, Queensland.  It was such a beautiful place to visit for the first time and take photos there.
There are so many wonderful backdrops to choose from in these gardens, including bamboo trees, bridges, a lake, Cherry blossom Tress (unfortunately weren't in bloom), and other beautiful floral shrubs and trees.  I do hope to visit again in the near future!
In other news over the weekend on Saturday I went to a rockabilly festival down at Caloundra, Queensland called Beachfest! There was a lot of vintage cars and hot rods to check out, admire and take photos with.  I meet up with a follow pinup friend and we watched the pinup competition together.  On the Sunday I checked out more of the vintage cars and a rockabilly/pinup clothing boutique called Poison Kandy Klothing.  I took photos for my blog, before heading home.
This weekend I plan on having a quiet one at home, I'll probably also take photos again for my blog.

Until next time!

Homestead Dungarees!

The dungarees, I'm wearing here are from UK brand Freddies of Pinewood
they are the Brown Home Companion Dungarees.  These 1940's inspired dungarees are made with a brown cotton twill with black stitching. They have very little stretch to them, so I would suggest you follow the measurement guide.  The sizes range from a 24 inch waist up to a 36 inch waist, there is also a regular and long leg option to choose from. This depends on your height and/or how long you prefer your trousers.
I love how the bib can be detached from the dungarees, so you can wear them as 1940's style trousers instead. Then you have the option of two outfits in one!  For these blog photos I decided to wear them as dungarees.  Other features are the two front button-up pockets, the zip goes up the side and buttons at the waistband.
Only tiny downside for me personally is the bib part, it's a little difficult to button up, due to the buttons-holes found stitched inside the jeans, it does take a bit of getting use to fasten the buttons into the button-holes.
These dungarees are very comfortable to wear and are currently listed to purchase for £80 plus shipping costs, on the Freddies of Pinewood webpage.
The blouse I'm wearing with my dungarees is the Lydia top by Lady K Loves
This top is now sold out and unavailable through the website!  I love the coral colour and how it can be tied at the waist or tucked into a skirt, a pair of high-waisted jeans or trousers.  These tops have a shirt style collar and patio style ric-rac and ribbon detailing on both the front and back.  There is also little crystal buttons to fasten up down the front. It's made from a light cotton material.
Accessories Include:
Vintage basket from Word from the Bird
Brown boots from Target Australia
Brooch from Erstwilder
Hoop earrings from Revere Folie
Hair-scarf from an ebay seller
Bangle is thrifted
These photos were taken in Toowoomba, Queensland at an old Inn, that is now a museum.  It's called Royal Bulls Head Inn
It's owned and operated by the Toowoomba Branch of the National Trust of Queensland.  It was established in 1847 by ex-convict William Horton to offer lodgings, stables for animals and host auctions and other social occasions. In 1859 William Horton extended the building into a two story hotel.  In 1860 it became known as the Royal Bulls Head Inn!
Later on a local saddler brought the property and it became a family home for some years.
In 1985 it was opened as a museum to the public, the museum is currently open on the first Sunday of the month and there is a small entry fee to visit the museum.
I wanted to take my photos here, as to have a country-homestead feel to them, whilst wearing my dungarees!
In other news, last Friday I went antique shopping with my Mum and sister.  We didn't end up buying anything though, there was nothing that really caught our attention and the prices were a bit steep.  I also took more photos for my blog and I've just been working.

Until next time!

Floral Crown!

I've been wanting a "floral-hair crown" for a while now, after seeing other pinup/vintage inspired ladies wearing floral-hair crowns and really admiring them.
A few months ago at Ballarat Beat (a rockabilly festival) I came across a market store called  Georgie Girl by Sandra and admired all her beautiful unique hair-flower creations. At the time I purchased a few pretties from her.  A couple of months ago I ended up messaging Georgie Girl by Sandra and asking her if she could custom make me a hair-flower crown to wear and feature on my blog.  Thankfully she said yes! It was her first time making a flower crown custom piece!  Sandra ended up creating a wonderful piece and I love it!  She attached pretty little pink, white and yellow flowers onto a solid headband.  Personally, doing it this way the headband felt secured and sat on my head perfectly.
Georgie Girl by Sandra is located in Adelaide, Australia.  I highly recommend on ordering a custom made, hand crafted piece for yourself, whether it's a flower crown, similar to mine or a unique hair-flower creation to wear with your special outfit.
This floral 1940's inspired dress I'm wearing is from a UK brand called Pretty Retro
It's the 40's Tea dress in pink floral. I love the floral print and the 1940's inspired style.  This dress is very lightweight, ideal to wear in spring and summer.  It's made from 100% polyester.  There are not many sizes left in this print, though there are other lovely prints and style dresses to choose from on Pretty Retro's website.
This dress features a gathered bust-line, with a little tie on the sweetheart neckline. It also has cute little sleeves. There are no zips or buttons, you just pull this dress over your head, due to the bias style.  There is no ironing required either! It's such a pretty little summer inspired dress.
Accessories Include:
Robbie Heels from Bait Footwear
Pink wicker handbag from Pinup Girl Clothing
Beaded necklace from Collectif Clothing
Green back-seam stocking by What Katie Did
Bangles are thrifted
I'm finding myself purchasing/ordering more 1940's style dresses at the moment.  Mainly because of the style and cut of the dresses.  Also I don't have to worry about finding and wearing a full/fluffy petticoat underneath.  I admire how 40's style dresses can be very feminine and cute, with the beautiful fabrics, the gorgeous prints and the different cuts and designs.
These style dresses can show more of your curves of, due to the A-line skirt shape. It's then a matter, if you feel comfortable with wearing a 1940's style dress to a 1950's swing skirt dress!
In other news I'm back at work, from having a couple of weeks off and I'm in full-swing being back at work this week. This weekend's actually a three day weekend...yay!  This will be the last long weekend though for quite some time unfortunately. I'm back to working five day a week until my next lot of holidays, hopefully towards the end of October.
This weekend I have plans to go to some antique shops with my Mum and sister and hopefully take some more photos for my blog.

Until next time!
