Springtime!

Hi all!

How's you're week going so far?  On the weekend, just gone my husband and I went out for dinner and a few drinks at our local RSL club on the Friday night.  On the Saturday we both went to the local shopping centre to get a couple of things and we had some lunch there as well.  That same day my husband and I actually ended up getting ourselves a baby budgie, I've decided to name him Cheeky Tiki!  On the Sunday we had more of a relaxing day, my husband took some outfit of the day photos for me and we went out for a drive!
Anyway I'm half-way through another working week and I can't believe it's coming to the end of September!
For this blog post I'm reviewing this stunning dress by Swedish vintage inspired clothing company called Miss Candyfloss it's called 50's Blossom Broderie Summer Dress in Ivory.  This dress is now sold out on both the Miss Candyfloss and Top Vintage websites!
I'm wearing a size 2XL and it fits very well around the waist area, the bust area though is a little roomy!
I purchased this dress a few months ago through the Miss Candyfloss website.  I'm not really a big fan of wearing all white (as it reminds me of wearing a wedding dress) but I just loved the style and the gorgeous eyelet cotton fabric.  Also I knew I could accessorize this dress with other colours such as pink, as in these blog photos.
The other features to this dress is the sweetheart neckline and the fabric fold-over on the neckline. There is also fabric buttons on the bodice and I adore the short capped sleeves.  This dress also has a hidden back zipper, a matching fabric belt and side pockets.
The swing skirt has knife pleats and the skirt length falls just below my knees! My height is 5' 7" for reference guide. The skirt is also fully lined and I'm also wearing my own petticoat underneath.
I'm looking forward in accessorizing this dress in another colour, when I decided to wear this dress again!
This dress feels like a great spring/summer dress.
Accessories Include:
Pink Boater hat by Unique Vintage
Brooch by Erstwilder
Earrings and Bangles by Splendette
Pink handbag from Lola Von Rose
Pink flats by Bettie Page Footwear and ordered via Nichole Jade Boutique
These photos for my blog we're photographed by my wonderful husband at a local park and walkway area down near the Mary river in Maryborough, Queensland
It sometimes can be quite challenging to find different local locations to use as a background that's going to suit my dress or outfit. I'm always on the search to find other photo opportunity locations!  Also I prefer my photos to be taken in shady, darker areas and not out in the direct sunlight as the glare from the sun can make outfit photos look pretty awful!

Until next time!

Winter Flowers!

Hi everyone!

How are you going?  I've got this week at work, then I'm taking some annual leave and having a week off. My husband and I are going away for a couple of nights for our one year wedding anniversary!  We had planned to go down to Mount Tambourine in Queensland ( a four hour drive away) but have now decided to go away a bit closer to Maleny in Queensland (a two hour drive away).  The reason why we changed our plans is mainly because of covid-19, as there has been a outbreak of Coronavirus recently especially in Victoria, Australia.  The state that I live in which is Queensland, there have only been a few cases. Fingers crossed it's stays this way but you can never be to sure.  My husband and I both decided we want to be on the safe side, and not travel as far away from home, for our anniversary getaway!
For this blog post I'm reviewing this beautiful dress by Sweden vintage inspired clothing company Miss Candyfloss  This dress is called Finella-Lee floral swing dress, this dress is now sold out on the Miss Candyfloss website. There are other colour ways still available to purchase for example there is a stone/red and a petrol/teal colours.  I actually waited up to ten weeks for this dress to arrive in the post (because of covid-19 and not many international flights at the moment).  I was very happy when this dress finally arrived and it fitted perfectly on me!
I'm wearing a size XL and I love the fit and style of this dress...I'm looking forward to wearing it over spring and summer! Actually you could wear this dress all year around, in the cooler months just add a cardigan or a jacket.
This dress is made from 97% cotton and 3% Elastin.  It has a zipper at the back and pockets...yay!!
Other features include the swing skirt has box pleats (wear with or without a petticoat) and it comes with it's own fabric detachable green belt. Note: I'm not wearing a petticoat for these photos.
I adore the diamond shaped neckline, the short sleeves and the pleated bust.  I also love the floral print on the navy blue background.  Miss Candyfloss is one of my favourite brands to wear, there garments are so comfortable, yet stylish and unique to wear!
Accessories Include:
Green Boater Hat from Morgan and Taylor
Bangles and Earrings by Splendette
Brooch by Erstwilder
Handbag by Vendula London
These photos we're shoot by my amazing husband at Yengarie Gallery & Gardens  I'm ever looking for different locations for my outfit and blog photos and I'm so grateful, that I've been allowed to take my outfit and blog photos at Yengarie Gallery & Gardens.  There is actually a Maryborough Open Gardens day coming up on the 29th of August, the general public are able to view some amazing private gardens and it's for free. The lovely couple that own and take care of Yengarie Gallery & Gardens will be allowing the general public to view their gardens on the 29th August 2020.

Until next time!

Autumn Colours!

Hi everyone!

How's your week going?
On Sunday my husband took photos of me at Yengarie Gallery and Gardens wearing two of my vintage inspired dresses for upcoming blog posts! I've also been keeping myself busy at work, as a activity officer in a aged care facility.
What are you're plans for this coming weekend?
On Saturday my husband and I are taking a ute and trailer full of things up to my Mother's new house in Bundaberg, Queensland.  She's had a big few weeks of packing and sorting everything out for the big house move, my Mum has actually moved from one town to another!
On Sunday we will probably clean and tidy our unit up.
This week I'm featuring this beautiful dress by Swedish brand Miss Candyfloss I especially ordered this dress through Australian vintage inspired clothing company called Call me Valerie I was able to pay for this dress using Afterpay.  This dress is called Edelie-Tea Burgundy and is from the Acid Doll collaboration (Acid Doll is a influencer on instagram with a lot of followers).
I just love this dress style and the colours of black and burgundy. I'm wearing a size XL, it fits perfectly in the bust and waist areas, only thing is the sleeves are a little tight for my bigger size arms.  This dress is great to wear in the cooler months in Queensland, Australia but I won't be able to wear it in our hot humid Summer months!
This exact dress is just about sold out through the Miss Candyfloss website, with only a couple sizes left.
Other great features is the detachable black bow, I decided to keep the bow on for these photos.  Next time I wear this dress I'll maybe wear it without the big bow! This dress also has functioning buttons down the front, French cuffs and a double Henley neckline. You have the choice to fully buttoned up to show of the double Henley neckline or partially unbuttoned for a more comfortable feel.   It also comes with a matching fabric belt and has a hidden side zip to get in and out off.  Personally I prefer back zips on dresses, as side zips can sometimes feel uncomfortable and are sometimes a bit tricker to zip up.  You also could wear a petticoat underneath, I choose not to for these photos.
It's made from 62% polyethylene 32% viscose and 6% spandex.
Accessories Include:
Black Beret thrifted
Lady Brooch by Erstwilder
Bangles and Earrings by Splendette
Black shoes by Kitten D'Amour
These photos we're taken by my wonderful husband at Bamboo Land and Nursery
My husband Graham and I love these gardens, as it holds a very special memory for the both of us. This is actually where we got married at, in August last year!  We both have visited here together a few times and decided together Bamboo Land and Nursery was the perfect location for our wedding ceremony!
Have a great weekend and take care.

Until next time!

Miss Candyfloss!

Hi all!
For this week's blog post, I'll be reviewing these two beautiful dresses by Swedish vintage inspired company Miss Candyfloss
I've been a fan of this brand now for around three to four years. I just love the high quality and the unique styles of they're dresses, jumpsuits, etc.  I currently own three dresses and three jumpsuits by Miss Candyfloss, and all are so comfortable, yet stylish to wear.  Other clothing items this company sells are skirts, tops, jackets, pants and accessories. The sizing ranges from XS to 5XL. With saying that a lot of their dresses, jumpsuits, pants etc sell out quite quickly.  So you may have to be pretty quick to purchase a popular beautiful garment piece, you have been eyeing of by Miss Candyfloss!
The first dress I'm reviewing is called "Sia-Katalin" and unfortunately for you this dress is sold out on the Miss Candyfloss website.  I have reviewed this dress before on my blog a couple of years ago, here's the link Retro Kitchen
I really adore this dress and to this day it's one of my favorites to wear, with the colour combinations of the pink and the teal together and the vintage inspired style.  It comes with a matching fabric belt, has a side zip and four front buttons to get in and out of, with ease. The fabric is 62% polyester, 32% viscose and 6% spandex.  I'm wearing a size Large and it fits so well for my measurements.
Other great features is the detailed, collared neckline and the pink cuffed up sleeves. Also the skirt has two front and back pleats. This dress is made in Translyania, Romania. My only wish is for this dress and other of Miss Candyfloss dresses to have hidden pockets!
Accessories Include:
Hat is from a local boutique
Earrings from Daisy Jean Floral
Brooch by Erstwilder
Bangles from Louella Deville
Handbag by Lola Von Rose
Heels by Bait Footwear
The second gorgeous dress I'm reviewing is the Allegra sun-dress, I'm sorry to say but this dress is also sold out on the Miss Candyfloss website. I also believe it sold out real quickly at the time it was released.  I was actually able to purchase it through a facebook buy/swap/sell group for a great price and hardly been worn. As I didn't have the funds at the time to purchase from the Miss Candyfloss website.
I was really wanting this dress, so I jumped at the chance to buy it through a facebook group!
This dress is a size XL and it has plenty of room (it is a little loose around the bust area).
I really love the yellow and white/yellow chevrons pattern together.  This dress comes with a matching fabric belt and a size zip to get in and out of.  The pleated swing skirt, fits a medium volume-petticoat under easily.  Other great features is the capped sleeves, the buttons down the front and the detailed cut-out neckline.
I highly recommend on ordering yourself something if you haven't already from Miss Candyfloss
Accessories Include:
White Hat from a local boutique
Hair-flower and Earrings by Daisy Jean Floral
Brooch by Erstwilder
Bangles from Louella Deville
Handbag from Pinup Girl Clothing
Sandals by Bait Footwear

There photos were shoot by my very supportive partner at an beautiful old church in Maryborough, Queensland.  Also in Childers, Queensland in front of some historical buildings.

Next week I'll be featuring two outfits from an Australian etsy company called Jacks Daughter

Until next time!

Picnic on the Farm!

This beautiful and stylish dress is by Miss Candyfloss  I love wearing this brand, as I find there clothing, especially there dresses are very comfortable to wear, constructed to a high quality and fit really well on me.
This dress is the Ronja-Rose-Sleeveless Daisy Print Picnic Dress.  I love the red and white together. Although I especially adore the gingham/daisy print on the top and bottom of this dress and on the matching belt.

This dress is sleeveless (is great for a picnic on a summer's day) it has a hidden side zip, a pleated bust-line and the neck-line in V shaped.  You can wear this dress with or without a petticoat - I choose without to take these photos for my blog.
Sizes range from XS to 2XL and it retails on the Miss Candyfloss website for $134.20 (US) or $172 (Aus) plus shipping costs.  It's made out of 62% polyester, 32% viscose and 6% spandex and is made in Transylvania, Romania.
Accessories Include:
Sandals from Bait Footwear
Red wicker handbag is from Pinup Girl Clothing
White hat is from Target Australia
Hair-flowers are by Shazam Pinup Hair Flowers
Brooch is by Erstwilder
Bangles from Susan Jane Jewellery

These photos for my blog were taken on a private property near Maryborough, Queensland. There  were a number of different backgrounds I could use for my photos for example old sheds, trees, fences and an old red pickup truck.  I really do love finding new locations to take my photos at!
After having about six week's off from blogging I'm slowly getting back into it, as I do have a number of outfits I have to blog over the coming weeks.
Over the last six weeks I've attended a few pinup/vintage festivals and pageants. I coordinated my first ever pinup competition for the Rockin' Maryborough Vintage Festival, in September. That I received positive feedback from.
I purchased myself a brand new car, a 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer (black edition). Also my beautiful cat Brandy of 21 years old had to be put to sleep, last week! :(
At the moment I'm getting excited as I'm going on holidays soon, I'm flying over to New Zealand next week and I'll be going to The Very Vintage Day Out in Auckland next weekend.  I also hope to take blog photos over in NZ as well.
I'll let you all know how my New Zealand trip goes, after I return back to Australia!
Also we have been getting a lot of rain, this is very unusual for this time of the year.  It hasn't stopped raining here for about three to four days now!  I had wanted to take photos again over the weekend but the rain put a stop to that!  :(

Until next time!

Retro Kitchen!

This gorgeous dress, caught my eye on the Miss Candyfloss website!  This was the combination of the teal and pink together, the look and the style of this dress.  It's called "Sia-Katalin" from the "Lovely Housewife Inspired Collection".  This dress comes with it's own matching belt, has a side-zip and functioning front buttons for getting this dress on and off with ease.
I adore the pink detailed neckline, collar and turned-up sleeves.  The skirt has two front and two back pleats, and I love the length of the skirt as well. It also fits my measurements perfectly!  Sizes range from XS to 2XL (with some sizes already sold out).  This dress is made in Transylvania, Romania.  It's made from 62% polyester, 32% viscose and 6% spandex.  You can purchase this dress for $160 (Aus) or $131 (U.S) plus shipping costs.
I highly recommend on ordering from Miss Candyfloss, as all their clothing are made and designed to a high standard.  I own a few pieces from this company now and they all feel so comfortable on.
Accessories Include:
Heels are from Bait Footwear
Vintage Hat is thrifted
Brooch is from Deer Arrow
Earrings from Louella-Deville
Bangles from Los Flamingo and Susan Jane Jewellery
Back-seam stockings by What Katie Did

These photos were taken in my cute little pink/aqua retro kitchen.  I have been updating it, with new tiles, a new bench-top and putting in a sink and tap.
I love my little retro kitchen and I knew it would make a great backdrop for this weeks photos to showcase this amazing dress to you!
In other news I drove up to Bundaberg to visit my friend and I also saw my family whilst I was there as well.  My friend Michelle aka "Vera Vamp" and I took photos of each other, the photos of her are to be used for her facebook page Vera Gin Vintage and the photos of me for my blog.  I'm looking forward to sharing these photos with you all next week!
I'm also still getting things organized for the Rockin' Maryborough Vintage Pinup Comps, for September this year.

Until next time!

Mint Green!

This gorgeous dress is from one of my favorite vintage inspired companies Miss Candyfloss
It's called Mariana - Lou The ultimate housewife dress.  I'm wearing the dusty mint colour, I do believe this colour has now sold out on Miss Candyfloss website.  Though there are other colours still available this includes navy blue, pink (some sizes left), red and black (some sizes left).
I love Miss Candyfloss for their well-made, beautifully designed and very comfortable to wear garments.  I especially adore their dresses and jumpsuits!
Their sizes ranges from XS to 5XL, I'm wearing a size Large and it fits perfectly to my body shape. This dress is made from 63% polyester, 32% viscose and 5% elastane.  The Mariana - Lou dress has many great features for example the scallop collar, the pleated bust, short sleeves, lightly pleated skirt, a matching belt, a back zip and I love the length.  On Miss Candyfloss website, it states it's a 1950's housewife dress, but I believe you can easily pass this dress of as a 1940's inspired design as well.
Accessories Include:
Shoes from Bait Footwear
Vintage handbag from a facebook buy/sell/swap group
Brooch, bangle and gloves are thrifted
The floral hair-piece I'm wearing is from Shazam Pinup Hairflowers  and is called Peach Phalaenopsis orchid cascade head piece. It's designed to be worn down the side of your face and is lightweight and attached to an alligator clip.  This head-piece retails for £15 on Shazam Pinup Hairflower website.
I have four days coming up this weekend for Easter.  This long weekend I'm planning on seeing family, hopefully taking more photos for my blog and attending a hot rod show on Sunday.
The next four weeks are actually short 4 day work weeks, because of public holidays, then I'm on holidays for two weeks in May...yay!

Until next time!

Winter Days!

Over the last few weeks here in Queensland, Australia it's been cold enough to wear my winter outfits! That means finally wearing my vintage inspired jeans/trousers and jackets/cardigans. I don't really like the cold but I do love wearing winter vintage style fashions!

These trousers I'm wearing for this blog post is by Miss Candyfloss.  Which are slowly becoming one of my favorite vintage inspired brands to wear.  To date I own two jumpsuits and now these Katherine Hepburn style wide pants by Miss CandyflossAll three items of clothing are very comfortable, yet stylish to wear.
I ordered The Raven-Silvy-Katherine Hepburn wide pants in light grey, but other colours include olive green, petrol, turqouise, navy blue, black, grey and red.
Also I ordered the size Large and it fits my measurements nicely.
These pants are made from a medium soft cotton with 3% spandex (these pants do have a stretch to them). Which is why they are very comfortable to wear.  Other features, there are two front deep pockets and line pockets on the back.  There is a side hidden zip (hidden in one of the front pockets) and a clip and button to secure.
Only small downside these pants are not as high-waisted and wide legged as I'd hoped they would have been.  But I still adore these vintage inspired comfortable trousers.
With these pants I decided to wear my short sleeve cardigan from Dangerfield Clothing from last year's collection (no longer available) and a jacket which was recently thrift-ed.
Accessories Include:
Saddle shoes Bait Footwear
Wicker vintage handbag from a facebook buy/sell/swap group
Beret from a ebay seller
Cat-eye glasses from a ebay seller
Pink earrings from My Little Rockabilly
These blog photos were taken by my friend and follow blogger Vera Gin Vintage down by the beach side at Bargara, Queensland and up on the only hill in Bundaberg, Queensland called The Hummock which many, many years ago used to be a volcano, which of course is now extinct.
In other news I had a great but busy weekend up in Bundaberg for my brother's 30th surprise birthday dinner on Saturday night and taking blog photos on Sunday morning with Miss Vera Gin Vintage.
The last few days I've just been working and today I caught up with a work friend for lunch.

Until next time!
