I recently purchased this cute tropical 1940's inspired play-suit from an Australian dressmaker and etsy business called Jack's Daughter
The lovely owner and dressmaker Jenni of Jack's Daughter specializes in "one off" vintage inspired creations. Either reproduced from original vintage patterns or she can even draft patterns from vintage garments and from Haslam pattern books to your specific measurements.
Some of her garments she currently has for sale on her etsy page include play-suits, overalls, skirts, blouses, tops and 1940's/50's vintage inspired dresses.
Even feel free to message Jenni if your after a "one of" vintage inspired outfit for yourself!
This 1940's vintage inspired play-suit is called "Chrissy." I love the tropical/parrots pattern so much and the material is made of a soft rayon.
The blouse is attached to the back of the shorts only. The blouse then tucks into the front and joins with buttons on the waistband. There is also white retro style buttons down the front of the blouse and down one side of the shorts to get in and out of this play-suit.
The shorts have a lot of leg room and are pleated at both the front and back. I found this cute outfit quite comfortable and cool to wear whilst taking these photos on a hot humid day.
Accessories Include:
Wedges from Payless Australia
Pink purse from Lola Von Rose
Hibiscus hair-flower from Soda Sweethearts
Green clip-on earrings from Daisy Jean Floral
Palm brooch from Kmart Australia
Bangles from various boutiques
This week's blog photos were taken at Maroochy Botanical gardens, located on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. I knew I wanted a tropical/rain-forest type background for these photos, to showcase this gorgeous play-suit and this location was a perfect spot to do so.
In other news I've just been working, taking photos for my blog on the weekends, and doing general things at home.
Nearly two weeks ago I went to a rockabilly festival in Brisbane, Queensland called Redlands Revival. It was a lovely day, but a very hot day and did end up getting a little burnt around my shoulders. I ended up purchasing myself a beautiful dress, I hope to share with you all in the near future.
Until next time!

In The Tropics!
I saw this stunning dress come up on sale for a really great price a couple of months ago on Zulily
naturally I purchased one straight away in my size! It's called Laura Brynes California Alfreda Dress in Hawaiian Baton Rouge Floral print by Pinup Girl Clothing. You can still purchase this exact dress through Pinup Girl Clothing it currently retails for $140.00 (US) and ranges from sizes XS right up to 4X.
I love the print and colours to this dress, when I first saw this dress online I thought the leaves were more of a yellow colour. To my surprise, when I opened up my package I saw that the leaves on it were actually a lime green! I also love the purple flowers scattered over this dress and the bust line.
This dress is made from a heavy cotton fabric and has hidden lipstick pockets. It also has a full-swing skirt, a back zip and short cap sleeves. Along with the tropical inspired print the bust design is visually stunning and really suits this style of dress so well.
Accessories Include:
Wicker purse thrifted
Gold sandals from Lotta from Stockholm
Hibiscus hair-flower from Soda Sweethearts
Tucan Brooch from Erstwilder
Tiki bangles from various boutiques
Earrings from Revere Folie
Fan and sunglasses were gifted to me
This week's blog photos were taken at a nursery and parklands in Queensland called Bamboo Land
I have taken photos previously here for my blog before, I knew it would make a great backdrop for this dress and blog photos. Even though it was late in the afternoon, it was so hot and humid trying to take these photos. That's living in the Queensland tropics throughout summer though!
In other news I'm now home from visiting Ballarat, Victoria and checking out Ballarat Beat
I had a great few days down there, my Mum, sister and I stayed in a three bedroom cute little house for four nights.
We checked out some vintage/antique stores where I scored a couple of beautiful vintage hats, we went out for lunch and dinner at a couple of lovely cafes, went on a tram ride and Mum took blog photos of me at the local botanical gardens that I shall share on my blog next week.
At the Ballarat Beat rockabilly festival on the Saturday - Mum, my sister and myself looked around the market stalls, I ended up purchasing a few goodies for myself including a cute wicker basket, a hair-flower and a pair of vintage earrings. Then we sat and watched the Pinup competition for a couple of hours, that was quite different as it had several categories including Miss Classique to Miss Geekabilly to Mr Ballarat Beat and more.
On Sunday I went on my own to Ballarat Beat (my Mum and sister didn't want to come, as it's not really there thing). I checked out the vintage cars, brought a few more goodies for myself including a dress, a necklace and another pair of earrings. I also meet a few ladies that I'd been following on instagram for a while. Meeting people you follow on social media can be a little strange but amazing at the same time!
All in all I don't know if I would attend Ballarat Beat again as there are so many fun rockabilly/pinup festivals right here where I live in Queensland, but I'm happy that I did up attending and checking out Ballarat Beat for myself!
Until next time!

Tropical Rainforest!
A few months ago I ordered my second dress from one of my favorite etsy stores called Hearts and Found
I have previously blogged the first dress I ordered from the same company here's the link to that: Colourful Chevron
I just love the idea of ordering from vintage inspired fashion companies that offer custom made dresses to fit your measurements, your dress style, length and fabric print choices that Hearts and Found does.
The owner Marjorie is very accommodating to answering any questions you may have!
There are many dress styles and prints to choose from, plus you can also purchase skirts and tops from Hearts and Found. All clothing are shipped worldwide from Vietnam, where Marjorie and her etsy store is located.
The dress I'm blogging this week is called "Margherita sarong dress Freaky Tiki in black and red Hawaiian floral hibiscus palm leaves print".
It's such a great dress to wear over summer (especially here in sub-tropical Queensland, where I live). It's made from a light breathable 100% cotton and I adore the tropical/Hawaiian fabric print. Other wonderful features is the sarong style, the skirt wraps across the front and ties on the side. Also the longer length (that I requested for my taller height), and the removable halter-neck tie straps if I want to wear this dress strapless!
It also has a back metal zipper, boning in the bust area for enhanced structure and elastic panels at each side of the bodice.
I highly recommend on ordering from Hearts and Found, if you want a well-made custom vintage inspired outfit that's to your personal style!
Accessories Include:
Black flats from Payless Australia
Vintage wicker purse thrifted
Faux pearl necklace Collectif
Hair-flowers and sunglasses from a local accessories boutique
Red-hoop earrings from Revere Folie
These photos were taken a few weeks ago at Noosa Botanic Gardens. These beautiful gardens are located on The Sunshine Coast, Queensland. I knew I had to find a tropical/rainforest background to take my blog photos wearing this tropical/tiki inspired dress! I just love finding locations that match the outfit I'm wearing for my blog photos! Just to give my photos a more authentic feel and look to them.
In other news this weekend I need to start buying some Christmas presents, as I haven't started yet!
I also have my work Christmas party this Saturday night and Sunday afternoon/evening I'm taking my sister to watch Christmas carols in the park!
I can't believe how fast this year has flown by and Christmas is nearly upon us, just crazy! I have bought a few Christmas accessories this year to wear, a couple of brooches and I'm waiting on a Christmas hair-flower from Daisy Jean Floral.
Also I still haven't receive any of my purchases from the Black Friday sales, hopefully I'll get them soon!
Until next time!

Tropical Island!
These stunning earrings I'm featuring on the blog this week, is by a brand located on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland - called Revere Folie
(located on Etsy)
The lovely lady who's name is Angie owns and runs this business, and is a lover of all things vintage. All of Revere Folie's earrings are designed, laser cut and put together using acrylic material, and all have a vintage design and flair to them.
All her designs are so unique and very well made and constructed.
These earrings by Revere Folie are called Glitter Island and come in two colours of pink or purple, I chose the purple pair. I love the glitter hoops with the glitter palm tree, water and rising and/or setting sun set in the middle (so very tropical).
They are made out of acylic, and have a stainless stud backing to place in your pieced ears. I have worn these earrings all day and they never pulled or felt heavy on my ears.
These earrings are currently listed to purchase for $30 (Aus).
I highly recommend this brand to anybody that's after a vintage inspired, unique, well constructed earrings!
This tropical inspired dress is by one of my favorite Australian brands Retrospec'd which is called Sophia Tahitian Dream. I actually ordered mine through an Australian company called WildKittyClothing.
The dress is made from a 100% cotton twill, has a back zipper and a halter-neck that comes in two button hole settings to sit just right on your body. It also has a cross-over bust and pleats. The skirt is also pleated and you can wear with or without a petticoat (I choose without for these photos). I love the tropical print with the sailing boats, the palm trees, and red poppies. This dress is listed on Wild Kitty Clothing website for $199.00 (Aus) and comes in sizes Aus 6 to Aus 18.
Accessories Include:
Gold Clogs from Lotta From Stockholm
Wicker hand-bag from Pinup Girl Clothing
Parasol from a local shopping chain.
Sunglasses and bangles thrifted
Hair-piece from Gigis Retro Closet
Faux pearl necklace from Collectif Clothing
These blog photos were taken a couple of weeks ago by Miss Vera Vamp at Mon Repos, Bundaberg, Queensland (sea turtles are well known here to lay their eggs)
In other news myself and Miss Vera Vamp are in a pinup pageant on Sunday called Take Your Tops Off at Hervey Bay, Queensland and is aid of breast cancer awareness and for hopefully one day a cure! All of us pinups that are in the pageant have to wear pink. I have my dress all picked out to wear on the day!
On Saturday we're also going to a pinup workshop, to learn a bit more about the art of pinup posing, make-up and hair, that I'm very much looking forward to.
Until next time!

Bamboo Paradise!
This gorgeous dress is called Paradise 50's Dress which is by UK vintage inspired brand Hell Bunny
Which I purchased and had on lay-by for a couple of months through my local pinup/rockabilly boutique called Cherry Tree Lane
On the Hell Bunny official website, this dress is currently selling for 42.99 pounds ($73 Australian Dollars). You can find it's listed to purchase on other rockabilly/pinup websites such as Unique Vintage, Atomic Cherry, Retro Glam and on ebay.
This dress ranges from size small to extra large, which is my usual size with Hell Bunny and it fits quite beautifully and feels comfortable to wear.
I adore the print on this dress with the bamboo sticks, the green leaves and the pink, yellow and purple orchids on the cream background. Such a stunning tropical inspired frock!
The material is made from a light 100% polyester (a great dress to wear in summer). It's a 1950's shirt style dress, with a pleated skirt, that flows from the waist seam. Other features is the cute little wooden style buttons down the center front, has short sleeves, a high back with a back zip to get in and out off.
The length on this dress sits nicely at my knees, also you can wear it with or without a petticoat/crinoline, I choose not to wear a petticoat for these blog photos.
Accessories Include:
Shoes from Payless Australia
Purple wicker purse from Pinup Girl Clothing
Brooch from Viva La Lux
Pink hair-scarf and orchid hair-flower from ebay stores.
Silver bangles thrifted
Vintage parasol thrifted
This blog photos were taken a few weeks back by my Mum at a gorgeous spot called Bamboo Land which is a nursery and park-lands, full of bamboo trees and grassy areas for picnics etc.
In other news my pinup friend Vera Vamp and I attended the annual Greazefest Kustom Kulture Festival. We both were in the pinups on parade on Saturday, with other pinup ladies to show of our own personal pinup/vintage style to the crowd and photographers.
We both attended the festival both Saturday and Sunday. We enjoyed looking at all the market stalls, viewing all the awesome vintage and hot rod cars, and checking out some of the rockabilly bands.
Looking forward to going again next year!
Also I'm now on leave from work for a couple of weeks...yay! I'm just looking forward to the next couple of weeks doing what I want to do.
Until next time!

Which comes in two colour ways the red and black, I chose the black one! This dress is made out of 100% cotton, whilst the colour material is made out of a rayon/polyester/spandex mix and is made in the USA. I found this dress has a lot of stretch, so is quite comfortable to wear and fits to my figure nicely.
I believe this dress on the Steady Clothing website has been discontinued. However Stars and Swallows still have some sizes left in both the red and black colour way but are back to full-retail price!
Accessories included:
Vintage wicker purse

Tropical Rainforest!
I recently bought this gorgeous wiggle dress from Lindybop a few weeks ago in a big "online sale" they had recently.
This dress is called Vanessa Pink Rainforest wiggle dress, this dress is made out of a medium weight stretch fabric (95% polyester and 5% elastane).
This dress also came with it's own pink matching belt, is fully lined and has a hidden back zipper to get in and out of with ease. I really adore the fabric print so much with all the bright colours, and the tropical plants all over.
Other great features to this dress is the eye catching pink crossover bust panel, the sweetheart neckline and the kick back pleat for easy walking and movement.
This dress is very comfortable to wear and fits so well on me. Unfortunately this dress has now been discontinued. Lindybop though has a lot of other great dresses, skirts, pants, tops and accessories to choose from and all being reasonable priced!
I knew I had to accessorize this dress with my gorgeous new tropical hair-floral piece from Soda Sweethearts Holly the lovely lady who runs and owns Soda Sweethearts has some lovely pieces on sale to choose from, including hair pieces, earrings and brooches. There's even made to order custom straw hats on her Etsy site. All her pieces are very well made and constructed. You can even win a cute hamburger brooch in my blog giveaway which will be available to enter real soon!
Other accessories include:
Peep-toe wedges Williams Australia
Bracelet from a fashion chain store
Purple Pinup Couture wicker purse from a facebook group
Parasol thrifted
I even had a recent professional photo-shoot taken wearing this dress from Lindybop which went perfectly with the Tiki/Hawaiian style shoot!
Here is a photo from that shoot. Photo credit: Phil Kustom Photography
Who's ready to enter my giveaway? Starting this Friday, there will be two prize packs up for grabs, full of cute and awesome pinup/rockabilly prizes, so please keep an eye out for that!
