A little while ago I got in contact with Jenni Porter from Jacks Daughter ( a vintage inspired fashion etsy store) and I asked her if she could possibly make me a 1930's inspired day dress from a photo of a pattern I saw on one of Jacks Daughter's instagram post.
Which of course Jenni happily agreed to and this is the end result! I have featured a 1940's inspired dress as well by Jacks Daughter on my blog here is the the link: 1940's Dress
I was able to choose the fabric myself and any other "special" features I wanted on the dress. I really do adore the floral print and all the colours on the cotton fabric.
My favorite features on this beautiful dress is the pleated kick in the front, the matching fabric belt, the short cuffed-sleeves and the collared-bow in the front. That you can tie together or leave it flat over the chest like I have styled it for these photos. There is also a few buttons down the front, under the collared-bow.
This dress fits me so well to my measurements that I gave Jenni to create for me. I highly recommend on having something custom-made by Jenni if you're after something unique to your own personal vintage style.
Accessories Include:
Yellow heels from Bait Footwear
Bangles from Splendette
Hair-flowers from a local boutique
Tote bag by Sun Jellies
I love this wide bream vintage inspired straw hat I'm wearing for these photos. I saw follow vintage inspired blogger Harlow Darling
wearing
her staw hat on her blog a couple of times and wanted one for myself. Then I actually
found out I could order one for myself through Harlow Darling...yay!! These style of hat's are so great for a hot summer's day outside, especially in Australia
and come with a hat-tie to tie around securely under the chin.
I wore it to a Christmas pinup picnic the other day and receive many
complements on it!
In other news I haven't finish of my Christmas shopping yet, I'll have to buy the rest this weekend! I have four days off over the Christmas break and will be spending it at home with the family this year.
Over the weekend just gone, on Saturday Mum and I assembled and decorated our Christmas Tree.
Then on Sunday I attended a Christmas pinup picnic/get together in a park, it was lovely seeing some of my "pinup" friends and having some photos taken. There was also some wonderful Christmas raffle prizes to be won and all money raised on the day was given to a wonderful charity. Unfortunately I didn't win anything!
This is my last blog post for 2017! Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Until next time!

Pinup Faces!
A couple of months ago I ended up scoring this awesome dress for a great price on a facebook buy/sell/swap group. It's the "Drive in Dress in Wink Print" by Bernie Dexter
I just love the face print on this dress and the three main colours of white, black and red. It's such an effective, unique print, that really stands out!
This dress is 100% cotton and has hidden lipstick pockets. It comes with a matching black patent belt. I just adore the shirt style dress, but what makes it even better is the zip down the front, instead of using buttons. This is such a great idea, for a number of reasons. For example it's so much easier and quicker to do up, there is no pulling/gaping with buttons (especially if you have a bigger bust) and there is no need to worry about sewing on buttons, if any do fall of. Also it is so comfortable to wear throughout the day. There is still many sizes left on the Bernie Dexter website, if you would love to purchase this dress. Sizes range from XS to 4XL and retails for $172.00 (U.S dollars)
Accessories Include:
Black heels from Bait Footwear
Hat and bangle are thrifted
Brooch is by Deer Arrow
Earrings from a local boutique
These photos were taken at home in my Mum's beautifully decorated formal lounge/dining room. My Mum loves decorating a room with antique inspired furniture and pieces.
In other news I had a great little holiday in New Zealand, I went over for five nights. I stayed in both Auckland and Hamilton. The weekend just gone I attended The Very Vintage Day Out in Auckland on both the Saturday and Sunday. I had the opportunity to meet in person a few of the gorgeous pinups I follow on instagram, including the gorgeous Miss Hero Holliday I have been following both her blog and instagram for quite a while now, she is such a beautiful young lady. The festival was a lot of fun, there were markets, entertainment, some vintage cars and of course the Miss New Zealand pinup competition - the top 10 finalists, were all so wonderful to watch and cheer on, especially watching their talents been performed on stage.
I also did some tourist things for example I went up the sky tower (a 61 floor look-out building) and I went to the Hobbiton movie set, where all the hobbits live in both The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies.
I also took some photos in a few different outfits at a number of beautiful locations and places, that I'll be sharing on my blog in the coming weeks, so please do keep a look out.
Unfortunately my holidays are nearly over, I have to go back to work on Monday!
Until next time!

Diner Retro Barbie!
I knew I had to own this gorgeous print and skirt as soon as I spotted it on instagram, then on June Bugs and Georgia Peaches blog
I straight away sent a message to Dazey LaRue's etsy store, asking her if she could custom make me this gorgeous skirt to feature on my blog!
Dazey LaRue designs and sells custom tops, skirts and dresses from genuine vintage patterns. Plus she specializes in novelty prints, border print fashions and custom orders. Dazey is located in San Francisco, USA.
The retro Barbie skirt is made from a light cotton and is gathered, from the waist and it has a zip with button closure. I just adore this retro barbie print and the colours so much. A little background info on me when I was a young girl, I would play with my Barbie dolls for hours on end, either on my own or with my cousin and I/we would make up all sorts of stories with our Barbie's.
The peasant black top I'm also wearing is from Le Bomb Shop
This top is made from a light weight 90% cotton and 10% spandex. It has an elastic neckline, that allows for on/off the shoulder wear. The back of the bodice is also elasticized to allow for a custom fit and to get on and off, as there is no zipper in these tops. Only tiny downside for me, is the armholes felt a little tight up under my arms. Sizes range from small to 3XL and price is $24.99 (US). I also ordered an orange peasant top from Le Bomb Shop.
Accessories Include:
Black flats from Payless Australia
Barbie brooch from Deer Arrow
White hoop earrings from Revere Folie
Bangles and hair-scarf are thrifted
Wide retro belt from Pinup Girl Clothing
This week's blog photos were taken by my friend Miss Vera Vamp at a new retro diner that's opening up soon in Bundaberg, Queensland called RJ's Rock N Roll Diner
I'm really looking forward to when it does open, as from what I saw that was actually done at the time, these photos were taken a few weeks ago, it's going to be so awesome! I just hope the local people support the diner and keep it up and running!
In other news, over the weekend I had a lovely time at both my Christmas staff party and at the local Christmas carols in the park with my sister. This weekend I hope to try and finish of my Christmas shopping and hopefully catch up with my friend Miss Vera, we're talking about going meeting up a local beach.
Apart from that I'm on the countdown to Christmas and spending some time with the family and having a few days off from work.
Until next time!

Getting to Know Mid Century Sweetheart!
Please allow me to introduce to you all to my blogger interview series this beautiful young lady Eleonora from Mid Century Sweetheart Eleonora lives in Croatia. I've been following this lovely lady's blog now for a few months, and I really love her blog review's her wonderful vintage inspired style and stunning photos!
I also follow Eleonora's instagram account @eleanor-rebel which I've been following for quite some time now and her facebook page which is: https://www.facebook.com/EleanorRebel/?fref=ts
Question: How did you come up with the name Mid Century Sweetheart for your blog?
I also follow Eleonora's instagram account @eleanor-rebel which I've been following for quite some time now and her facebook page which is: https://www.facebook.com/EleanorRebel/?fref=ts
Question: How did you come up with the name Mid Century Sweetheart for your blog?
I wanted something that would immediately tell the reader what
to expect. I love 40s and 50s fashion, that is my everyday style so I
wanted to incorporate that into my blog name so Mid Century came
instantly to my mind, the other part was tough. Sweetheart came to me
when I was drying my daughters hair, I found it cute and appropriate.
Question: Please describe your blogging style?
I am a positive person so I always seek and try to point out the best in everything and I believe in the old saying If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all. So reviewing clothing, jewelry, bags etc I am always honest but never mean! I love to write about clothes that is custom-made by my ideas,
that is where my heart goes. I like to have professional photos for my
blog but if that is not possible I go to nature with my mom, she is my backup photographer.
Question: What inspired you to start blogging?
I find my
inspiration in many vintage/pin up bloggers but reading their posts
sometimes I found something missing and by the time I decided to start a
blog I had a lot of collaborations, lot of photos that were telling a
story. I wanted to put that story out there, to tell others why and how
much I love some products and brands. We live in a time when everything bad is louder than good,
trolls are everywhere and compliments for hard work is hard to get. I
wanted to write something nice about people and their goods in the pin up
community.
Question: Describe your fashion sense/style?
After punk
chick, rockabilly and modern pin up I found my heart in classic pin up. I
find inspiration on Pinterest, Instagram and new movies and series that are set in the 40s and 50s. My style goes from 50s housewife to teen in
saddle shoes with a lot of swing dresses and accessories. I love bangles
and brooches, bright colors and novelty prints.
Question: Do you have any favorite bloggers and if so can you please name a few?
Sure do!
Junebugs and Georgia Peaches, Miss Amy May, Miss Psycho Cat, Miss
Victory Violet, Alice in Retrospect, Miss Ginger Tulips, The vintage
anatomy are the ones that came to my mind now, there are a lot of
bloggers I follow.
Question: What can your readers/followers expect from you and your blog over the next 12 months?
This year
started amazing, a lot of collaborations are coming up (Miss Fortune UK,
Love ur look, Lady Luck's Boutique,...) also a few old and new clothing
pieces that are made to measure to inspired gals who sew will be on the
blog next weeks. I'm coming to UK this summer so I hope to grab some
true vintage pieces, lingerie, hats and bags to share with my readers.
I hope you all enjoyed reading and getting to know Eleonora and her blog Mid Century Sweetheart a little better!
Thank-you so much Eleonora for taking time to answer my blog interview questions!
Until next time!

Getting to Know Porcelina's World
Here's the next vintage inspired blogger lady I love to introduce to you all, to my blogger interview series Sarah from Porcelinas World
I've only been following Sarah's blog for a few months now, but already I'm enjoying reading her blog post's and admiring her blog photos!
As well as posting about her vintage & vintage reproduction outfits, Sarah posts about everyday lifestyle & social outings/get together's etc.
I also follow Sarah on her instagram account which is @porcelinasworld
Sarah also has a facebook page to like and follow which is: https://www.facebook.com/porcelinasworld?fref=ts
Question: How did you come up with the name Porcelinas World for your blog?
It seems unlikely now, but my music tastes used to be a little on the melancholy side. 'Porcelina' was a nickname taken from a song on a Smashing Pumpkins album, and it sort of stuck as I was very pale at the time! I see more daylight these days and listen to a range of jovial music instead.
Question: Please describe your blogging style?
My blog is an outlet for anything vaguely vintagey that I get up to. Sometimes I want to share pictures of an outfit, or I might have been on a day trip somewhere exciting and want to encourage others to visit it. My blog is lifestyle based rather than being solely outfit focused, and that's helped me keep it going - even if I am not able to get out and take outfit photos, I can share what I've been up to socially. I blog because I enjoy it, and try and keep my blog a positive space.
Question: What inspired you to start blogging?
I started blogging as a way to connect to others who share my passion for vintage. There are a lot of us out there! These days, there are many Facebook groups and events that weren't around when I started blogging, so it's even easier now for vintage newbies to make connections with like-minded folk. I have been meeting fellow vintage enthusiasts in person over the last couple of years, and that has been a lot of fun. I have formed some firm friendships and would urge everyone to attend a meet if they can.
Question: Describe your fashion sense/style?
My wardrobe is a mix of vintage, repro and classic high street. Much of it is from the car boot sale. On an average day I tend to pick and mix from my favourite decades (20s to 70s) - I rarely go head to toe in one era. I like to try out different styles and use different influences depending on my mood. That can include Westernwear, folk, Art Deco, Poirot, Miss Fisher, novelty prints, nautical, rockabilly, Mad Men or Rosie the riveter! For more regular snippets of my everyday wardrobe, please see my Instagram account (@porcelinasworld).
Question: Do you have any favorite bloggers and if so can you please name a few?
Instead of old favourites I'm going to name a couple of new-to-me bloggers: firstly, 'Of Pearls and Stars' is a blog run by a writer in Los Angeles with an impressive vintage collection and some impressive sewing and design talent. Another new favourite is 'Finding Femme', an Australian blog showcasing the most wonderful photography of classic looks, with some great storytelling to accompany it.
Question: What can your readers/followers expect from you and your blog over the next 12 months?
More charity shop bargains, online shopping mishaps, overdressing, novice sewing, Welsh tourism and time-travelling! I'm under increasing time pressure from my PhD, so this may mean a few less outfit posts but I still enjoy day trips and holidays in my time off (very important!) so travel will continue to feature quite heavily. Next month I will be visiting North Wales, and there are upcoming vintage events locally, as well as a few cheeky afternoon teas planned.
I hope you all enjoyed getting to know Sarah and her blog Porcelinas World a little better, I know I have!
Thank-you so much Sarah for agreeing and finding time to take part if my interview blogger series! xo
Until next time!

Floral Garden!
This beautiful dress I wanted to share with you all is from an Australian business called Dickybird Dresses
Dickybird Dresses is created and owned by a lovely lady named Kristen Cutlack, Kristen has studied fashion design, pattern making and illustration. In 2011 the Dickybird label was started, Kristen custom designs dresses, skirts and tops. All her designs are specifically made to suit the piece of fabric on hand, so just in every case her dresses etc are a one off design.
Her fabrics are often vintage and up-cycled from other pieces so her customers may expect some slight variations is colour in the made up dresses, skirts etc.
She also has an exceptional skill in fitting a garment to a customers measurements, which I definitely found in the dress she custom made for me!
Kristen sells her dresses at her own home in Queensland, Australia, at several markets and on her facebook https://www.facebook.com/DickybirdDresses/ and instagram pages @mydickybird
This gorgeous dress what custom made for me to wear and to do a blog review on. I just love this dress so much!
I was able to choose the style of dress I wanted, by messaging Kristen from Dickybird Dresses through her facebook page, and she sent me a photo of the fabric she currently had in stock that I could use for my dress. I do adore the pink floral print, the green leaves on the cream background.
I sent through my measurements, with the final result, ended up fitting like a dream!
I also love the length, the front pockets, the white zigzag ending around the pockets and neckline and the square neckline itself. This dress is made out of a light cotton and has a back zip.
I highly recommend on ordering yourself a "beautiful creation" from Dickybird Dresses!
Accessories Include:
Wedges are from Payless Australia
Cardigan is from Target Australia
White pearl necklace from Michael Hill
Retro sunglasses from Colette by Colette Hayman
Pink hair-flower from Gigis Retro Closet
Pink petticoat borrowed from Vera Gin Vintage
These photos were taken by the ever lovely Miss Vera Vamp and/or Vera Gin Vintage. They were taken at a local park-lands in Bundaberg, Queensland. In some of these photos there was a lady near by doing yoga, so we both had to try and stay clear from her! Also I love the photos of myself lying on the grass, I'm very happy with these photos, and how great they turned out!
In other news over the weekend I drove up to Bundaberg, Queensland to see some of the family and also to catch up with Miss Vera to take blog photos together, we also had a yummy brunch together in a local cafe as well.
I'll be featuring my next blogger interview on my blog, hopefully by the weekend, so keep your eyes peeled out for that!
Also I'm one the countdown now to attend my first ever Cooly Rocks On (huge rockabilly festival) down at the Gold Coast, Queensland. I'm so excited to go!
Until next time!
