Miss Bamboo!

Hi all!
This week I'm reviewing these two beautiful dresses by UK vintage inspired brand Miss Bamboo
All of Miss Bamboo's garments are made in the UK and in limited numbers.  This brand sells late 1940's/early 50's dresses, skirts, tops, men's shirts and some accessories.
This company also sells other well known U.S brands such as Bernie Dexter and Trashy Diva.
The first dress I'm reviewing is called late 1940's/early 50's Lucille dress in golden floral stems. Unfortunately for you this exact same dress is now sold out on the website.  I've actually owned this dress, for around a year and a half.  I have featured it before on my blog, here is my original blog post: Golden Floral
I just love how you can style this dress many ways, with adding different accessories, shoes, etc.
Even though this exact dress is now sold out there are still a few other colour ways to choose from. For example a pale blue 50's fleck with red, black/white 50's fleck and green 50's fleck.
This dress is made of 100% cotton and comes with a matching fabric belt.  On this day and for these photos I decided to wear one of my own belts instead.  My favorite features of this dress are the black buttons down the front and the black loop detailing on top of the pockets and up near the collar. I really love the yellow and black together, with the little floral stems on the fabric.  It's one of my favorite dresses to wear in my ever growing pinup inspired wardrobe!
Accessories Include:
Straw boater hat from Pinup Girl Clothing
Sunglasses from a local boutique
Earrings from Daisy Jean Floral
Belt from Kmart Australia
Brooch from Erstwilder
Bangles from Splendette
Flats from Splendless
The second dress by Miss Bamboo I'm reviewing is the Lucinda dress - teal fleck with pink. This dress is made of 100% cotton and comes in sizes 8-18.  This exact style is still available on the website and still has some sizes to choose and purchased.  It also comes in other colour ways such as a tropical flamingo print and a high-sea print. I really do love the teal and pink together, that's why I decided to purchase this beautiful dress for myself!
This dress has teal buttons down the front, has front pockets and comes with it's own fabric belt.  My favorite features of this dress is the button, with the pink fabric on each side of the pockets and on the double collar. I also admire the puff sleeves with the folded up pink cuffs.
Both dresses by Miss Bamboo are so comfortable to wear throughout the day.  I love that both are so unique and yet look true to the late 40's/50's style. Go and check out Miss Bamboo's website for yourself!
Accessories Include:
Hair-flower from Shazam Pinup Hairflowers
Brooch by Deer Arrow
Earrings by Daisy Jean Floral
Bangles by Splendette
Shoes by Rocket Originals
Handbag from Pinup Girl Clothing

These photos were shoot by my loving partner outside an old heritage building and in the most unique designed gardens, that is owned and cared for by a couple of lovely sisters in Maryborough, Queensland.

Next week I'll be featuring two vintage inspired dresses by an Australian company called Elise Design

Until next time!

Golden Floral!

As soon as I saw this awesome dress on the Miss Bamboo website I knew I had to own, wear and review this gorgeous dress!
It's called 1940's/50's Lucille dress in golden floral stems.  I actually had the opportunity to wear this dress to the Very Vintage Day Out festival a few weeks ago in Auckland, New Zealand and received many wonderful compliments on it.
I love the yellow fabric with the little floral stems and black detailing on this dress.  It also has black buttons down the front, a matching black belt buckle and loop detailing on the two front pockets and up near the collar.  It also comes with a matching fabric belt. This dress is made from 100% cotton, that I find really comfortable to wear on a hot summer's day.
Sizes range from 8 up to 18, with a lot of sizes now sold out on Miss Bamboo's website. Although there are two other fabric colours to choose from, there is a green 50's fleck colour and a grey 50's fleck with red detailing.  The retail price is £82 ($144 Aus) plus postage.  It's such a really cute, though yet a stylish dress to own and wear!
Accessories Include:
Black cowboy boot from an ebay seller.
Bangles from Los Flamingo
Hair-scarf and yellow earrings from various boutiques.

These blog photos were taken at the most wonderful gardens in New Zealand called Hamilton Gardens  I had been wanting to visit these gardens for a couple of years, after seeing the gardens on social media and other vintage fashion blogs.  I'm so happy that I had the opportunity to do so after my recent little trip over to New Zealand.  These gardens are world class, with many different styles of gardens to look at and admire. For example Japanese, English, Italian and Indian just to name a few.
In other news I've just been working really.  I haven't been up to too much lately, last Saturday I went for a drive and caught up with a follow pinup/vintage friend, we both checked out a new vintage inspired dress boutique and had lunch together.  This weekend I plan to do a little bit of housework, I have to vote tomorrow in the local state government election and hopefully take blog photos.

Until next time!

Palm Leaves!

This gorgeous 1940's style dress is from Miss Bamboo UK and is the Palm Court 1940's Dress.
The owner behind the company Miss Bamboo lives and breathes the 1940's and 1950's and her online boutique represents her particular love of glamours American and Pacific style fashions.
The brand Miss Bamboo is high quality 1940's/50's reproduction garments.  You can also purchase, well-known brands such as Trashy Diva, Tatyana and Bernie Dexter, through Miss Bamboo's online store.
The garments include dresses, skirts, tops and blouses and men's shirts just to name a few to order and purchase.
The palm court dress is made from an original 1940's pattern.  The material is made of a light rayon and is very comfortable to wear. It is a shirt style dress, with an a-line skirt. The top half has three black buttons down the center that ends at the waist and is darted in the back for extra back and arm room and movement. I love the green palm leaves and fern print on the black background.
The sizes range from 8 up to 18, I ordered size 16 and it fits my measurements perfectly. The price is £65 ($115 Aus), plus shipping.
Accessories Include:
Black "Robbie" heels from Bait Footwear
Wicker handbag is thrifted
Brooch from Kmart Australia
Bangle from Tiki Swag
Earrings from Revere Folie
Green back-seam stockings by What Katie Did and ordered through  The Nylon Swish
I do enjoy finding locations for my blog photos that match my outfits theme and style, sometimes it can be a little challenging though to find the perfect location.
For example if it's a tiki/tropical style outfit I'm blogging then it will usually be a beach or a rain-forest type background. If it's a western/country theme outfit than a country style background.  For this particular dress I wanted to have palm leaves and ferns in the background.
I ended up choosing the botanical gardens at Hervey Bay for this blog photo-shoot.
Do you find it easy or hard to find locations for your blog photos, if you're a fashion blogger?
In other news I had a great long weekend, on Saturday I attended a rockabilly festival called Timewarp, my friend and I drove down and spent a few hours there, where we checked out the hot rods and vintage cars, looked at the markets stalls, caught up with some ladies we both knew, watched the pinup competition, my friend actually won the title of "Miss Timewarp" last year, so this year she had to judge the pinup comp.  I also watch my other friends rockabilly band called The Sugarshakers. We both enjoyed it, and there was a huge attendance this year also.
Also over the weekend my family and I had a picnic lunch on the Sunday and then went to an animal sanctuary, where we looked at and interacted with emu's, kangaroos, birds, lizards, an eagle and a camel.  We all had a great afternoon at the sanctuary.
Also I have one day of work to go, then I'm on leave for two weeks...yay!!

Until next time!
