Country Gal!

This beautiful dress I wanted to share with you all on my blog is from a New Zealand vintage inspired clothing company called V is for Vintage
I came across this brand V is for Vintage via social media, so I decided to take a look at their website and I really loved what I saw!
V is for Vintage or MaeKing (whom is the source for the name of this brand). Mae King spent all her life sewing and she taught her daughter's the art of tailoring. Her daughter Denise is the master seamstress behind the Mae King range, she is also the co-founder and fashion director of V is for Vintage. There is also Kirstin whom is also the co-founder, designer and of course wearer of the MaeKing range. V is for Vintage sell women's dresses, tops and skirts along with Men's tops and waistcoats.

This dress is called The Hip to be Square dress and is inspired by the 1950's American styled square dancing dresses and patio sets.
On the website this dress is actually green, but I asked for a light blue fabric instead, which was kindly accepted and sourced for me by the lovely team of V is for Vintage.
This dress ranges from size 6 right up to size 28, I sent my measurements though, so this dress would fit perfectly on me.
The light blue fabric is made out of cotton, has black and white ribbon trimmings around the neckline and on the ruffled tiers of the skirt. This dress also has a back zipper, a black bow on the fitted bodice and short puffed sleeves.

This frock is really "out of the box" for me, as it's a type of style I haven't actually worn before - but as soon as I saw it on the website, I just had to order it, as I don't own any Western/Country inspired dresses.  I do adore this dress, only little downside is the neckline it's just a bit too high for my own personal taste, apart from that this dress is such a beautiful dress to wear!
I wore one of my petticoat's underneath for more structure and shape to the dress.
I highly recommend on ordering yourself something from the New Zealand vintage inspired brand V is for Vintage.

I knew I had to take "country" inspired photos with this dress and I found these park-lands, that looked and felt very "country" inspired to me.  I took these blog photos myself with my tripod and camera, I did receive some quick glaces by people walking through the park-lands, but I kept telling and reminding myself, don't worry about what they're thinking, just keep smiling and posing!
I do prefer having someone to take my photos though as it's not as awkward. On occasions I do have to take my own blog photos.

In other news I had my professional photo-shoot over the weekend, I've seen some of the photos so far and they're looking awesome, I had a fun couple of hours taking photos in and around such a beautiful vintage car.  I hope to share some photos with you all, real soon!

Also I'm looking forward to attending my first Cooly Rocks On, down at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, in a couple of weeks time. It should be a fun weekend of all things retro, rockabilly, vintage and pinup inspired! I have some outfits lined up that I'm wanting to wear.

Tea Party!

A few weeks ago I ordered a custom made skirt from an Australian vintage inspired company called Lulu Rocket Retro
This company sell women's clothing, shoes and accessories from well known vintage inspired brand names from both Australia and around the world.
But the lovely owner also custom makes her own vintage inspired dresses and skirts which you can directly order from her website http://lulurocketretro.bigcartel.com/  or facebook page https://www.facebook.com/LuluRocketRetro/
Which is what I did, I had a look at all her photos on her facebook page and choose this lovely tea pot/canister/cup print and ask if she could make this print into a circle/swing skirt for me and here is the end result that I wanted to share with you all!

I just thought this print was so cute and very different from other fabric print's I've seen. I've sent the lovely owner of Lulu Rocket Retro my waist measurements and that I preferred a gathered skirt (easier to iron).  This fabric is custom printed so I had to wait a few weeks until it was ordered and delivered to be custom made for me.
I just love this skirt, it's made out of 100% cotton and has a back zip and button to get in and out of.
I highly recommend ordering yourself something from Lulu Rocket Retro, something that is custom made to your measurement and style and that's unique for you!
I decided to wear my vintage shirt with this skirt and a petticoat underneath for extra shape and structure.

 These photos were beautifully taken by my Mum at the most gorgeous cottage and gardens called Vintage Rose Cottage
Their gardens and their own home is out of this world amazing, so much to look at, take in and admire!  The lovely owners open their home and gardens every weekend for visitors to come and enjoy. As well as looking around at the gardens and inside their home, you can order yourself something delicious to eat or drink, and sit down and admire the view.
My Mum, sister and I want to go back again real soon, as we had such a lovely few hours there plus  hopefully to take more blog photos as there are stunning area's I didn't get a chance to take a photo in/with.

In other news I have a professional photoshoot with a awesome vintage car tomorrow, which I'm really looking forward to!
I have two outfits/themes I'm going to wear and get photographed in.  I hope to share these with you all soon!

Getting to Know Hungry and Nosalgic!

Let me introduce to you all this stylish lady to my blogger interview series Hungry and Nosalgic or aka Caramella!
I've been following Caramella's blog now for around a year.  Caramella posts wonderful food, outfit, hair and accessories reviews!  She's a huge Elvis fan, has a great singing voice and her rockabilly/vintage style is so cute yet fun.
I also follow Caramella on instagram, her account name is called HungryCaramella.

I highly recommend on following this lovely ladies blog and/or instagram account!

Question:  How did you come up with the name Hungry and Nosalgic/Caramella for your blog?

 Caramella means Candy in Italian and it's the perfect name for me since I love sweets! As for my blog -Hungry and Nostalgic- I came up with that because those are the two words that best describe me ;)

Question:  Please describe your blogging style?

 My blogging style is quite simple. I post pictures of my outfits, I write reviews and sometimes I post about food or events. I try to keep things midcentury/vintage related. Most importantly, you'll notice that Elvis is often in my posts. He is my everything!

Question:  What inspired you to start blogging?

 I read about bloggers in magazines and I stumbled upon many while searching for beauty products/makeup tutorials on the web. I thought it would be a fun past time and I wanted to show off my outfits and connect with other bloggers from around the world. 

Question:  Describe your fashion sense/style?

 When I first started blogging, I had no style (haha). What I mean is, my style was rather plain and ''anonymous'' apart from my beloved polka dots! I've always been attracted to everything from the fifties (especially the music and fashion), ever since I was a little girl. I didn't dress completely retro though when I first started blogging, because I couldn't find many fifties-style clothing in stores. Then one day, I discovered vintage shops and vintage reproduction brands, and that's when my ''outside'' finally matched my ''inside.''  My style is vintage, rockabilly and Elvis inspired.

 Question:  Do you have any favorite bloggers and if so can you please name a few?

 Well, one of them is definitely Miss Milla Cherry ;) I also love Peaches McGinty, Peaches Belvedere and Chronically Vintage.

Question:  What can your readers/followers expect from you and your blog over the next 12 months?

 I'm gonna keep on doin' what I do! More retro outfits, more reviews and more ELVIS!

Vintage Traveling!

A couple of months back I ordered two dresses from a US ladies clothing company called Eshakti
because I had a sale coupon I could use and there was a "sale" at the time on their website. Plus I love their collection and their many styles of dresses to choose from!
Eshakti mainly sell skirts, tops and dresses. Including many designs, fabrics and patterns to pick and choose from which they update and add new designs quite regularly as well.

This is how Eshakti works as stated by their website: 1. Choose your favorite design that is currently available at the time. 2. Let the company know your measurements.  3.  Customize your design to suit your style e.g. longer/short sleeves, longer/shorter skirt length, low neckline etc.  4. Order and pay for your goodies. 5. Then wait for your order to arrive. This is such a great idea to have a hand in the design of your special skirt of dress. I wish more clothing companies offer this type of thing.
Only downside is that Eshakti only ship to the US and Canada and don't ship to other countries like Australia (where I live). So I had to use a separate postal service that could ship my dresses to me (which end up costing a little more that I had wanted to pay).
Unfortunately I won't be ordering again from Eshakti unless they start shipping worldwide in the near future.

But I do love this dress I choose from Eshakti (currently the same print is on their website but in a different dress style to purchase).
I customize this dress for myself by letting the company know my measurements, adding a longer skirt length and shorter sleeves. Other great features is that this dress is lined, has hidden pockets, comes with a belt and is made out of a light crepe fabric.  I just adore the fabric print with the blue background and the little pink flowers. Such a classic 1940's style!
I hope to blog my other dress in the near future.

These photos were taken by Miss Vera Gin Vintage a little while ago whilst she was visiting me, they were taken at a couple of different locations in Maryborough, Queensland.  For example on a train line beside the river and in a rotunda in Queen's park.

In other news my Mum, my sister and I went to the most beautiful place this morning, so I could mainly take blog photos but to also looked around at the most beautiful cottage and gardens.  I'm really looking forward to posting this on my blog real soon!

Little Green Pixie!

This gorgeous vintage inspired dress is by an Australian brand called Rockabilly Baby Vintage  which I was given the opportunity to do a blog review on!
Rockabilly Baby Vintage sell ladies rockabilly/vintage/pinup inspired dresses, skirts, tops, cardigans, petticoats, accessories and some Men's and children's clothing. They sell well-known vintage inspired brands for example Hell Bunny, Sourpuss, Lindybop, Voodoo Vixen etc and their own brand RBV Designs. 
This dress I'm wearing in these photos is actually a RBV Design and is called the Little Miss Pixie Dress which was named after the business owner's daughter. I choose the green colour-way to blog but there are also pink, blue and yellow to choose from.

These cute dresses come in sizes 10 (Australia) to 24. I ordered size 14 (waist 32 inch and bust 38 inchs) and fits me perfectly. I find this dress is great for the hotter days, due to the shorter length and the singlet style sleeves. Would be fun to wear to picnic's and BBQ's.
 I love the green colour, the faux white buttons down the front, the white detailing and the white poker-dots over this dress.
Other wonderful features is the cute Peter Pan collar, the front pockets and this dress in fully-lined. There is a back zip to get in and out of and is made out of cotton.  I would highly recommend on ordering yourself one of these lovely dresses, as they're really comfortable yet super cute and stylish!!
Note: I wore a petticoat underneath for more skirt fullness and structure.

In other news I've still been busy working a lot of shifts at work, next week though I should be back to my normal working roster/hours!

Also on Saturday Miss Vera Gin Vintage and I attended the second annual Timewarp festival at Palmwoods, Queensland. We both checked out the market stalls together, had lunch, took some photos of each other with some of the awesome cars, had some professional photos taken as we both were in the pinup parade. Guess what? Miss Vera Gin won Miss Timewarp 2016, I was extremely happy for her, as was a well deserved winner!
I wore a new dress from one of my favorite vintage inspired company Retrospec'd which I hope to blog about this dress in the near future!

Vintage Hummingbird!

A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to do a blog review on this gorgeous dress by London based vintage style designer Zoe Vine
This dress is called Millie - Hummingbird Summer dress.
Zoe Vine currently design's and produce children's clothing and women's dresses, all her dresses are re-worked vintage styles for the modern women. All of Zoe Vine's dresses are wonderfully designed and produced and are made out of the most gorgeous colourful, patterns and fabrics.

Zoe Vine currently offer sizes S/10 through to XL/16, I ordered the XL which fitted my 32 inch waist and 38 inch bust nicely, only downside was that the sleeves were to tight for my arms (I had to get the sleeves altered to fit my arms). Now this dress fits perfectly!
I love the colours, floral and hummingbird print on this stunning dress. I also love the really low back to this dress.  Note: I had to wear a backless bra. 
Other great features this dress has a back zip, bodice is lined, has a boat neckline, deep pleated skirt, fitted waist band and bodice.
This dress is made out of  97% Cotton 3% Elasthan.  Lining is 100% Cotton.

These photos were taken at a couple of different locations around Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia. At a old arts building and at the local botanical gardens a few weeks ago by the lovely Miss Vera Gin Vintage.

 In other news only a couple of days now until I'm participating in a pinup parade alongside Miss Vera Gin, we're both so excited to be going together, looking around at the festival and participating in the pinup parade - hopefully my dress arrives tomorrow I hope to wear, otherwise I'll have to come up with another outfit to wear! I'll let you all know how I go early next week.

On the weekend just gone I relaxed, caught up on some chores, went to a local hot rod and vintage car show and checked out a location to hopefully take some blog photos at in the near future!

Retro Caravan!

A little while ago I was given the opportunity to review the most wonderful printed dress by a UK vintage inspired clothing business called Victory Parade Collection this dress is called the Polly Pencil Caravan dress currently this dress is listed for 99 pounds. Which converts to $190 Australian dollars.
I just love all the wonderful printed dresses and dress styles Victory Parade has currently on offer for sale, so many unique and fun fabric prints! The reason I choose the caravan printed dress is I love retro 1950's/60's caravans and it was a print that stood out and grab my attention the most!
I highly recommend on buying yourself a gorgeous dress from Victory Parade Collection.

Victory Parade's dresses comes in sizes XXS to XXXL  I ended up ordering the XL which fitted my waist line quite nicely but was too big for my bust (due to having a small bust line) I ended up getting the top altered and taken in, which this dress now fits like a dream. This dress is made in a light cotton fabric, has a hidden zip down the back, has a back slit for easy walking, turnback red collar, tailored cap sleeves and red turnback pockets. 
The times I have worn this dress I have received great feedback for example asking questions like "where is my dress from?", "oh I love your dress" etc.
I had to wear my Erstwilder  Happy Glamper brooch with this dress. Such a great pairing!!

These photos were taken with a lovely lady's vintage caravan called "Doris" the caravan is so cute and I'm so very happy the owner allowed me to take photos in and around her caravan, as well as using some of her props, especially her retro style bike.  As I had been on the hunt for a vintage/retro caravan for quite sometime to take blog photos with - they're hard to come by in my area!

In other news I've been really busy working nearly every day this week, a few days ago I was offered another position at work, which I accepted so I'm really looking forward to trying this new role out for a few months to see how I go!
I actually have this weekend off, I'm just wanting to relax and catch up with some household chores, plus re-colour my hair ready for next weekend in the pinup parade and rockabilly festival!
