I saw this stunning dress come up on sale for a really great price a couple of months ago on Zulily
naturally I purchased one straight away in my size! It's called Laura Brynes California Alfreda Dress in Hawaiian Baton Rouge Floral print by Pinup Girl Clothing. You can still purchase this exact dress through Pinup Girl Clothing it currently retails for $140.00 (US) and ranges from sizes XS right up to 4X.
I love the print and colours to this dress, when I first saw this dress online I thought the leaves were more of a yellow colour. To my surprise, when I opened up my package I saw that the leaves on it were actually a lime green! I also love the purple flowers scattered over this dress and the bust line.
This dress is made from a heavy cotton fabric and has hidden lipstick pockets. It also has a full-swing skirt, a back zip and short cap sleeves. Along with the tropical inspired print the bust design is visually stunning and really suits this style of dress so well.
Accessories Include:
Wicker purse thrifted
Gold sandals from Lotta from Stockholm
Hibiscus hair-flower from Soda Sweethearts
Tucan Brooch from Erstwilder
Tiki bangles from various boutiques
Earrings from Revere Folie
Fan and sunglasses were gifted to me
This week's blog photos were taken at a nursery and parklands in Queensland called Bamboo Land
I have taken photos previously here for my blog before, I knew it would make a great backdrop for this dress and blog photos. Even though it was late in the afternoon, it was so hot and humid trying to take these photos. That's living in the Queensland tropics throughout summer though!
In other news I'm now home from visiting Ballarat, Victoria and checking out Ballarat Beat
I had a great few days down there, my Mum, sister and I stayed in a three bedroom cute little house for four nights.
We checked out some vintage/antique stores where I scored a couple of beautiful vintage hats, we went out for lunch and dinner at a couple of lovely cafes, went on a tram ride and Mum took blog photos of me at the local botanical gardens that I shall share on my blog next week.
At the Ballarat Beat rockabilly festival on the Saturday - Mum, my sister and myself looked around the market stalls, I ended up purchasing a few goodies for myself including a cute wicker basket, a hair-flower and a pair of vintage earrings. Then we sat and watched the Pinup competition for a couple of hours, that was quite different as it had several categories including Miss Classique to Miss Geekabilly to Mr Ballarat Beat and more.
On Sunday I went on my own to Ballarat Beat (my Mum and sister didn't want to come, as it's not really there thing). I checked out the vintage cars, brought a few more goodies for myself including a dress, a necklace and another pair of earrings. I also meet a few ladies that I'd been following on instagram for a while. Meeting people you follow on social media can be a little strange but amazing at the same time!
All in all I don't know if I would attend Ballarat Beat again as there are so many fun rockabilly/pinup festivals right here where I live in Queensland, but I'm happy that I did up attending and checking out Ballarat Beat for myself!
Until next time!

Purple Floral!
Recently I asked Kristen from Dickybird Dresses to custom-make me a dress. I wanted a summer vintage style dress, with buttons down the back and thin-straps to tie up on the shoulders. After a few messages back and forward to each other, regarding exactly what I wanted, the fabric print and giving Kristen my measurements, this is the end result! I'm very happy with this dress I love the purple floral print and the purple trim on the waist, neck-line, shoulders and pockets. The back has tiny white buttons and a small zipper at the end to get in and out of. I do require someone to help me with doing up the back buttons though. This beautiful print is vintage up-cycled cotton fabric. I wore a white petticoat under this dress to give it more structure and shape.
I have previously blogged another dress by Dickybird Dresses here is the link: Floral Garden
Kristen and her business Dickybird Dresses are located in Queensland, Australia. I love how she custom makes garments from vintage and up-circled fabrics, it's such a great idea to give a frock a more of a vintage touch to it and to have something that is unique one off design. I highly recommend on ordering a dress from Dickybird Dresses, as Kristen is very prompt at answering messages and creating a special piece just for you! I have received wonderful service from her on both occasions and I hope to have something made for me again in the near future!
Accessories Include:
Sandals from Bait Footwear
Wicker handbag from Pinup Girl Clothing
Earrings from Revere Folie
Bangle thrifted
White hat from Target Australia
This week's blog photos were taken out in backyard garden. A long side the purple Geisha Girl and the lavender crepe myrtle. I knew this backdrop would look lovely with this gorgeous dress!
In other news I'm now on a week's leave from work. Thursday morning Mum, my sister and myself fly out from Brisbane, Queensland down to Melbourne, Victoria for a few days. We're staying in Ballarat, Victoria, I'm wanting to attend a rockabilly festival there called Ballarat Beat, also we want to check out some vintage shops. I also hope to take some blog photos as well.
I'm half-way packed, I just need to pack my makeup and toiletries in my suitcase.
Next week I'll let you know how the festival/holiday went!
Until next time!

Vintage Styling!
Please allow me to start with this gorgeous vintage hat that I purchased to wear and feature on my blog. It's from an etsy business called The Vintage Hat Shop
This beautiful 1950's vintage cocktail hat is brimless, is unlined and has detailed scallops around the edging. It can be worn on all head sizes due to a stiff hidden wire that is inside the hat. Note: I knew I wanted to place this hat on the side of my head, the wire did indeed help with the hat sitting properly on my head but I also place to bobby pins between my hair and the hat, just for extra security.
I love the ivory colour and the pastel pink rose with greenery that is wonderfully placed on the right side.
The Vintage Hat Shop is owned and operated by a lovely lady named Cindy, she lives on the shores of Lake Michigan, in the state of Michigan, USA. Cindy has been selling hats now for six years and has made around 3000 sales to date! Some of her hats have been featured in and purchased for movies, New York fashion week, Great Gatsby parties, the theatre and costume use, vintage themed weddings, Dapper Day at Disney and Goodwood Revival etc.
Cindy was very prompt with answering my messages, I received such wonderful service from her!
There are so many stunning vintage hats to view and purchase, so please go and check The Vintage Hat Shop for yourself through etsy.
I decided to match the hat with this beautiful 1940's vintage inspired dress by UK brand Hell Bunny it's called the Ingrid dress. I purchased this dress from follow Australian vintage blogger Curve Creation
I love the light green fabric with the white poker-dots. I also adore the cute detailed collar with the vintage look button in the middle of the round neck-line. The fabric is very light and soft and the dress is A-line, so no need for a petticoat underneath. It also has a zip at the back to get in and out of. I found this dress to be a little big on me, especially between the waist and the bust. Plus the belt was too big for my waist, I had to put extra holes in the belt myself, so I could tighten the belt up for a better fit.
Such a lovely dress to wear though, especially if you after a 1940's style.
Accessories Include:
Shoes from Bait Footwear
Gloves are thrifted
Brooch thrifted
Earrings from Colette Hayman
This week's blog photos were taken in the formal lounge room at home, that my Mum beautifully decorated. I knew it would make a great backdrop for this outfit and photos, especially with the gorgeous chase lounge, floral arrangements and Mum's vintage reproduction phone.
In other news I had a quiet weekend at home taking more photos for my blog and doing some house chores.
This time next week I'll be happy as I have a week off from work and I'll be getting ready and packed to go away for a few days.
I've also be exercising and eating more healthy for nearly four weeks now. I haven't lost much weight but I do feel better during the day for work, which is always a good thing.
Until next time!

Birthday Girl!
It was my birthday last week and I knew I wanted to take "Birthday style" photos for my blog. I decided to pose with balloons that would match my dress!
I actually had to go to work on my Birthday, so I didn't do anything special. It was really just another day, expect for all the facebook birthday messages I received! My Mum gave me a gorgeous picture print to hang up on my wall, a card and some birthday balloons.
I actually had to go to work on my Birthday, so I didn't do anything special. It was really just another day, expect for all the facebook birthday messages I received! My Mum gave me a gorgeous picture print to hang up on my wall, a card and some birthday balloons.

The dress I'm wearing in these photos is from an Australian brand Retrospec'd. It's called "Sun, fruit basket dress in white", and there are a couple of sizes left, size 12 and 16 on the Retrospec'd web-page to purchase. It is made out of 100% cotton twill, has a back zipper to get in and out of, a pleated skirt and has adjustable thin straps.
It's a great frock to wear over the summer months, because of the thin straps and the light cotton material. I love the fruit print on the white background and the red border on the bottom of this dress and the pleated bust-line.
Note: It didn't come with a matching belt, so I chose to wear one I already own from a previous dress.
Accessories Include:
Heels from Bait Footwear
Handbag by Sun Jellies
Earrings and bangles from local boutiques
Necklace by Collectif Clothing
Fruit hair-piece from Louella-deville
This week's blog photos were taken by my good friend "Miss Vera Vamp" at the botanical gardens in Bundaberg, Queensland and by a cool graffiti artwork of a rose under a traffic bridge.
In the gardens, whilst taking photos we were both being attacked and surrounded by annoying mosquitoes. As it was late afternoon and was really hot and humid.
In other news over the weekend my Mum, my sister and myself went out for a drive to the shops and had lunch together for both Mum's and my birthday's. Also I did some housework chores and took more blog photos of another outfit, that I'll share on here next week.
On Thursday it's Australia Day, which is a public holiday and I get to have a day off from work. At this stage I have no set plans for celebrating Australia Day - probably just a quiet day at home.
Also I'm on the countdown (in two weeks) until I go away for a few days and have some time off from work.
Until next time!

Mahjong Game!
When I saw this Trashy Diva dress came up for sale on a facebook buy/sell/swap group for a good price, in my size, in a cute print and a style of dress I love. I knew I had to bite the bullet and purchase it for myself! I've actually been wanting to own and wear a Trashy Diva outfit for quite a while now, I'm really happy to finally do so!
It's called the Annette dress in Mahjong print.
This dress has many wonderful features including hidden pockets, it is fully lined and has a back zip with hook and eye to get in and out of. It's made from a lightweight cotton voile, and has a knee length gathered skirt. I love the gathered round neckline and the skinny straps that are adjustable with buttons to achieve the best fit. Note: It also comes with a matching belt, but I choose to wear a black wide retro belt instead from Pinup Girl Clothing.
I adore the colorful Mahjong tiles on the white background, it's such a unique print for a retro inspired dress.
Currently this dress retails on the Trashy Diva website for $176 (U.S.) but I was able to purchase it for half that price, thanks to lovely lady selling hers on facebook! This dress ranges in sizes from 6 up to 24.
Accessories Include:
Heels from Bait Footwear
Vintage hat is thrifted
Bangles and parasol is thrifted
Sparrow brooch by Erstwilder
Earrings from Colette by Colette Hayman
This week's blog photos were taken on my own at a Japanese theme gardens down at Hervey Bay, Queensland at the botanical gardens. I thought these gardens would suit this Asian inspired print and dress perfectly. There were so many great backdrops to choose from in the gorgeous gardens!
In other news it has been so terribly hot here in Queensland over the last week, it's been one of the longest running heat waves in quite a while. As well as the high temperature heat, we also have the humidity which in an absolute killer! My family and I have been living in air conditioning at home both day and night.
Also it's actually my birthday tomorrow, I don't have anything planned as I'm working. Although over the weekend just gone my good friend took "special birthday" blog photos for me, which I shall feature on my blog next week!
Until next time!

Road Trip!
This is the first dress that I've owned by Australian business Pigtails and Pirates
The print on this dress sold it for me, as I do love retro caravans! I also adore the classic cars and families enjoying a "road trip holiday" together and the lime green background.
Unfortunately this print is now sold out on the Pigtails and Pirates web-page, but there are many other wonderful, fun and cute prints to choose from.
As well as dresses, there are skirts, play-suits and children's clothing you can order. If you live in Australia Pigtails and Pirates offer AfterPay to pay for your dress, skirt etc. This is like lay-by, but you get the garment straight away, and still pay it of on a fortnightly basis.
The material on this dress is a light cotton, great to wear in the summer. It's lined in the bodice and has a back zipper. Also this dress has capped sleeves, a princess seamed bodice and a full circle skirt (I wore a petticoat underneath to give more shape and full-ness).
I asked the owner and dressmaker Laura of Pigtails and Pirates if I could have the bust area custom made to fit. Which of course she said yes to!
I highly recommend on ordering from Pigtails and Pirates if you after a unique outfit that has a fun and quirky print to it!
Accessories Include:
Red flats from Bait Footwear
Radio brooch by Erstwilder
Cat-eye glasses from an ebay seller
Red hair-scarf from Daisy Jean Floral
Bangles from Vintage Pip (Business is closing down soon)
Earrings from Colette by Colette Hayman
This week's blog photos were taken at home, I wanted to take photos with a retro caravan but they're so hard to come by. My next door neighbor owns a caravan so I took photos next to it, it was the next best thing I could come up with. As I do try my best to find locations that suit the dress/outfit look, style and print!
In other news I need to try and lose some weight, because I'm feeling unfit and tired at work, plus some of my dresses are starting to feel tight on me...oh no!! I've started exercising again and trying to eat more healthy.
Apart from that I've just been working, trying to save money to go away with next month to Ballarat Beat and taking photos for my blog, on my weekends off from work.
Until next time!

Summer Beach!
This gorgeous skirt was custom made for me to wear and feature on my blog. It's by an etsy business called Violets in May
This business is located in the United Kingdom, the beautiful owner Lola creates and sells wonderful designed vintage inspired outfits, you can either get something custom made (like I have) or choose an outfit that's listed on her etsy business Violets in May.
I just love the leaf print and the colours in this skirt, I can wear a lot of different colour tops with it, that I absolutely love!
I found this skirt to be very well made and the length great for my height.
It's made from a sturdy cotton, has a zip fastening, a waist band and is a gathered full swing skirt. I actually chose not to wear a petticoat underneath, as I found it was full enough, plus I didn't want to wear one to the beach.
The light blue top I'm wearing is the "cross your heart bombshell pinup tank" and is from Le Bomb Shop I actually own a few of these tops and I adore them, they are so stylish and great to wear especially in the summer in hot tropical Queensland.
You can wear this top a few different ways for example, crossed in the back (like I have) crossed in the front or have one strap just going across the front. These tops have a sweetheart neckline, with a twisted bust detail and lightly padded breast cups. They come in sizes small to extra large and are made from 96% polyester and 4% spandex. They are currently listed on Le Bomb Shop's website for $18.99 each (US).
Accessories Include:
Sandals from Bait Footwear
Star Burst Brooch from Erstwilder
Sunglasses and tiki bangles from YOSPS
Parasol from an ebay seller
Pink loop earrings from Daisy Jean Floral Designs
These photos were taken by my good friend "Miss Vera Vamp" a few weeks ago at a sleepy seaside beach called Woodgate. After these photos were taken, my friend and I chatted and relaxed on the beach for a couple of hours. I made sure I applied the sunscreen, as I didn't want to get burnt like I did last time I was on the beach taking blog photos.
In other news I had a lovely but quiet Christmas/New Year, I was just happy to have a few days off over both weekends.
I'm on the countdown now until my birthday, that's in a couple of weeks. Then going away for a few days to Ballarat, Victoria in February to attend a big rockabilly/vintage festival called Ballarat Beat and even check out some of the vintage shops. My Mum, my sister and myself are all going together. I'm really looking forward to it!
Happy New Year to you all, I hope 2017 is really great to you all!
Until next time!
