What a Great Night!

Friday was a busy though exciting day of getting ready for my first ever Pinup Pageant. Which included having my finger nails, hair and make-up professionally done. As well as getting dressed and having a run-through of where/how to parade down the red carpet for the pageant and meeting the rest of the beautiful finalist ladies in the Miss Rockin Maryborough pinup pageant.

My pageant dress I choose to wear was this amazing Bernie Dexter orange print dress and a black petticoat underneath.  I accessorized this dress with a pair of black shoes from a pre-loved clothing and accessories boutique, an oranges necklace from Your One Stop Pinup Shop and a hair-flower from a store I bought at Greazefest a few weeks ago.
Here I am on the red carpet I was quite disappointed in myself though, as my nerves did get the better of me and I was shaking quite a bit, this was however my first time, and I am quite an introverted person. I do feel though the more I enter pinup pageants the less nervous I will become, when walking/parading down a catwalk or on the stage in front of people.
After the pageant had finished we all had our photos taken, this was one of these photos with a gorgeous pink poodle by the name of Coco Channel. Coco and her owners came up from the Gold Coast (about four hour drive away) to attend the Pageant and the weekend festivities for the Rockin Maryborough Vintage Festival.
After the pageant most of us, changed out of our pinup outfits and into how Rock and Roll ball gowns.  To attend the Rock and Roll ball and find out who won the title of Miss Rockin Maryborough 2015
My frock, shoes and bangle I choose to wear for the night I bought from a pre-loved clothing boutique on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.
After some dancing, mingling and having some fun, the top ten finalist were called up onto the stage to find out who won a title in the first ever Pinup Pageant for Maryborough.
First was the title of Miss Congeniality which was *drum roll* me Miss Cherry Milla!!  I couldn't believe it, that I had actually won a title, I was so happy and thrilled with this. I won a tiara, a sash, a lovely bunch of flowers and a box full of little goodies.
Next it was the title of Miss Adored which went to Miss Ivory Rose, she won this title because she had the most facebook likes on the Miss Rockin Maryborough facebook page.
Then came Runner up which went to Miss Christabelle, this lovely lady was ever so thrilled and happy with her title.
Next was the prestige title of Miss Rockin Maryborough which went to Miss Sapphire Siren. A beautiful young lady, whom has entered quite a number of well known pinup pageants in the past, so she was a well-deserving winner!
Myself aka Miss Contingently with Miss Rockin Maryborough aka Miss Sapphire Siren.

All of the ladies who made it into the top ten, are all such beautiful, amazing, gorgeous ladies. Which I can now call my friends and look forward to catching up with all from time to time in the near future!

My next blog post will be Day 1 and Day 2 (final day) of the vintage festival.

Until next time!

The weekend is getting closer!

Only a couple more days now to my first pinup pageant...even though I'm really excited, the nerves are also kicking in now! My outfit is all organized, it's just my little routine I'm not 100% sure with yet, but I do sort of have an idea what I'll do.
After the pageant, there will be a rock & roll ball. Then for the rest of the weekend for my town's first annual vintage festival there will be vintage and hot rod vehicles on display, vintage market stores, an ink competition, bands and a lot more. Hopefully it will be a great weekend!
I have at least 4 - 5 dresses I'll be wearing this weekend alone, so expect some photos of this weekend on my blog in the near future.
Here I'm wearing a tropical/Hawaiian style outfit for these photos, I bought this tropical inspired shirt a couple of weeks ago, which I decided to pair with my Sourpuss pedal pushers. I'm also accessorizing with my Miss L Fire flamingo sandals and my new yellow vintage inspired hair-scarf.
I meet up with another lovely lady yesterday who is one of the finalist this weekend for a coffee and a chat.
Shirt is from Lowes Australia.
Denim pedal pushers are from Sourpuss Clothing  https://sourpussclothing.com/
Sandals are from Miss L Fire UK   http://shop.misslfire.co.uk/
Hair-scarf is from a vintage market store.

On Saturday I went to a retro festival, which was about a two hour drive away their and back.  I mainly went down to watch their pinup pageant to gain some tips and just generally check it out, as I'd never been before.
I decided to wear my new Dee Dee dress in peach gingham by Pinup Couture, which I accessorize with my peach brooch by Atomic Mingo and my faux pearl necklace.

I caught up with another lovely lady whom is also in the pinup pageant this Friday night and In the afternoon with my friend who is the lead singer of the rockabilly band The Sugarshakers. I didn't get to see them perform though as they're gig was on late in the afternoon and I had to drive the two hours back home again, which was a bummer.
My friend took some photos of me in front of some cool looking vintage cars, (which was quite windy at the time and messed my hair big-time) we checked out a few of the vintage market stores and had some lunch. Also before heading back home I entered the pinup fashions of the field segment. Just for a bit of practice before this weekend. There was only four of ladies in it though, as by this time in the afternoon a lot of the crowd had left already!

Pinup's meet and greet!

On Saturday night I went out to a pinup meet and greet dinner with some of the finalist ladies whom are competing in the Miss Rockin Pinup competition next Friday night! Most of the ladies that went, was my first time meeting them. It was so great getting to know each other before the big event next week. Unfortunately though the rest of the finalist ladies couldn't make it!
There will be 10 finalist all up, as you can see only six of us could make to dinner on Saturday night. Though we all still had a lovely time. We were all able to wear our pinup sashes for the night, which was a lot of fun to do. Heaps of people asked us what we are doing, why we all dressed up etc.

I decided to wear my Pinup Girl Clothing Jenny skirt in Queen of Hearts print and a red top I bought from a pre-loved clothing boutique. I accessorized this outfit with my Pinup Couture red belt and my red Lucky-Lou heels.
In the above photo I'm all dolled up and ready to go out for dinner with the ladies!

For my day off today I decided to wear my Hawaiian/Tiki style dress by Collectif UK. I just love the hibiscus yellow flower's on the red background to this dress. Such a great dress to wear in the spring/summer months.
I decided to accessorize this dress with my bamboo bangles and my red hibiscus hair-flower.
This weekend I'm planning on going to a Retro festival a couple of hours drive away for the day, just to check it out, as I've never been before and I want to watch their Pinup competition to gain some extra tips for next Friday night...I'm really looking forward to it!

Until next time!

My type of pinup style!

I haven't had a chance to blog for a couple of weeks, due to I've just been busy with work and my personal life to actually post a blog.  I've got a few exciting things coming up that I've been planning for as well.  Especially my first ever pinup pageant I have entered, which is happening in a couple of weeks time, I'm in the top 10!!  I have been sorting out what I'll be wearing and where to get my makeup, hair and nails professionally done...it's all so exciting!
This Saturday night I'm going out to dinner with some of the other pinup pageant finalist to meet, have a chat and have some dinner and drinks, I'm really looking forward to it.

I love this cherry print Jenny skirt by Pinup Couture (pinup girl clothing), I thought I would wear my cherry print blouse with this skirt, as they go so well together. I decided to accessorize this outfit with my cherry print hand-bag by Sourpuss Clothing. I just love cherries, it's one of my favorite novelty prints.

Last Days of Holidays!

It's been a lovely three weeks off from work, only downside it just went by too fast, which I knew it would have. I'm back to work tomorrow!!
Oh well there is nothing much I can do about it, just have to get back into the swing of things at work until at least I get my next block of holidays, which should be early next year.

This lovely cherry print dress is by the UK vintage reproduction brand Collectif, I bought this dress off an ebay seller for a very good price, a while ago now.  I have previously blogged about this dress before this is the link if you wish to have a look/read: http://missmillacherry.blogspot.com.au/2015/04/all-cherries.html
I tried my first attempt at pin curling my hair last week and as you can see in these photos, this is how my hair turned out, which was pretty good for my first try. My hair can be very stubborn and thick, so at times it's quite hard to style my hair to how I want or like it.
I just love Collectif dresses, too date I own three dresses from this brand. With this particular dress I love the cherry print, the 40's inspired style, the light polyester fabric and how it's lined as well.
I decided to accessorize this dress with my red cardigan and my white faux beads.
Dress is by Collectif from an ebay seller.
Silver flats are from Rivers Australia  http://www.rivers.com.au/
Red cardigan is from Target Australia
White beads are from Vivien of Holloway http://www.vivienofholloway.com/
Over the weekend I attended a pinup workshop to gain some extra tips for my first pinup pageant competition which is happening next month. Which was really interesting to attend as I did learn quite a number of tips from it. I also went for a drive down to the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. I had lunch and checked out this awesome shop down their, that sells a lot of vintage and second hand clothing, plus accessories and a lot of shoes! I ended up buying two cocktail style dresses and a couple pair of shoes.

This dress which is by another UK vintage inspired brand called Vivien of Holloway. I wore this dress out to run some errands, to do some things at home and just relax before heading back to work.
I have also blogged about this dress previously before this is the link to that:  http://missmillacherry.blogspot.com.au/2015/05/pink-french-chic.html
I just love the 1940's style to this dress, I adore the longer length, the fabric print, the pockets, the crisp cotton fabric and the buttons down the front.
I decided to accessorize this dress with my Erstwilder "prancing poodle brooch", my pink hair-scarf and my pink cat-eye faux glasses.

Pinup Style vs Rockabilly Style

Guess what? I've entered my first pinup pageant! It's a local one, that is happening next month. I had to submit 3 photos of myself and write a little biography about why I love pinup/vintage/rockabilly lifestyle and/or fashion.
My three photos are up on a facebook event page this is the link https://www.facebook.com/events/564217140384200/  if anyone that reads this blog post wouldn't mind going to this link and liking my three photos please!!
As well as wearing this gorgeous dress the other weekend to Greazefest, I also took my own photos wearing this Pinup Girl Clothing dress for the "miss rockin pinup" entry photos.
I totally love this dress so much, I love the pink colour, the parasol/umbrella print, the white gathered bust, the little black bow under the bust and of course the matching bolero.
As soon as I saw this dress on the coming soon section of the Pinup Girl Clothing website I just had to buy it, when is became available to purchase.
I just love how my Frenchie "Beauty School Dropout" brooch by Atomic Mingo matches this dress so perfectly.

The Evelyn dress in Mary Blair Umbrella print is from Pinup Girl Clothing   http://www.pinupgirlclothing.com/
Peep-toe pink wedges are from Williams Shoes   https://www.williamsshoes.com.au
Brooch is from Atomic Mingo  https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/AtomicMingo
Pink hair-flower is from an ebay seller.
I wore this rockabilly style outfit the other day to do some things at home, relax and out to the shops for a bit.
These pedal pusher jeans are so cool looking, I love the darker colour, the hemmed cuffs and the stretch cotton material. I feel like a cool rockabilly chic when I wear this!
I decided to wear this jeans with my friends rockabilly band tee called "The Sugarshakers".
Pedal pushers are from Sourpuss Clothing  http://www.sourpussclothing.com/
"The Sugarshakers" tee is from their official website  http://sugarshakersband.com/

Florals vs Fruity!

Well I'm more then half-way through my holidays from work, and it's been really lovely not having to worry about getting ready or going to work!

Today's blog post is about two beautiful dresses I've worn recently over my holidays/time off from work.
The first is this gorgeous floral print dress, which I have blogged previously before this is the link if you wish to have a look:  http://missmillacherry.blogspot.com.au/2015/04/pretty-flowers.html
The brand is called Timeless by Vannessa Tong (find on facebook).
I love the floral print, the neckline and the length. Other great bonus to this dress it's fully lined and has hidden lipstick pockets!
I wore this dress out to dinner one night with some close girlfriends and out to run some errands and to the local shops.
I decided to accessorize this dress with my white cardigan, my faux pearl necklace, my yellow hair-flower and a pair of tights, as it's still been a little cold recently.
Floral dress is from That Shop (find of facebook)
White peep-toe shoes, white cardigan and tights are from Target Australia.
Faux pearl necklace is from Vivien of Holloway http://www.vivienofholloway.com/
Yellow hair-flower is from Cherry Bay Fabulous (find on facebook)
The second dress I'm blogging about today is this beautiful frock by an Australian brand called Retrospec'd   http://retrospecd.com/
Which I have also blogged previously before this is the link:  http://missmillacherry.blogspot.com.au/2015/03/basket-of-fruit.html
I adore the fruit fabric print, all the brights colours, the length, the light cotton fabric, the style and how this dress has pockets and comes with a matching belt.
I wore this beautiful frock to a vintage fair over the weekend with my Mum and sister. I was a little disappointed with the fair as a lot of the clothing/accessories were somewhat over-priced for a smaller country town. Though I did end up buying a vintage handbag and a red coat.
I decided to accessorize this dress with my vintage straw hat, my vintage necklace, a black cardigan and my new "I carried a watermelon" brooch by an Australian brand called Atomic Mingo. The beautiful lady whom owns this little business designs and paints all her brooches herself, which is so awesome! I currently own three brooches from her business.
Dress I bought from Miskonduct Klothing  http://www.miskonduct.com/
Vintage hat and necklace are both from local vintage stores.
Black cardigan is from Kmart Australia
Watermelon brooch is from Atomic Mingo https://www.etsy.com/au/shop/AtomicMingo

Until next time!
