Bailee Venice!

I received this gorgeous dress a couple of weeks ago from a UK inspired brand Lindy Bop to feature on my blog for a review and to wear!  This dress is called "Bailee" Yellow Venice Border Swing Dress. 
I love the Venice border print, and the yellow/white print.
I love how the wide straps meet towards the middle of the dress to the front bow, I find with this strap style, the straps don't fall down of your shoulders, which can be really annoying if your forever having to fix up your straps on a dress!
The material is 97% cotton, 3% elastane and is fully lined which is 100% cotton.
Such a stunning summer inspired dress!

I ordered size 14 which fits my measurements perfectly. Currently this dress ranges from sizes 6 up to 26 and is currently listed for 38 (British pounds) or $66.53 (Australian dollars).
  Other features to this dress is a box pleat skirt, a removable matching belt, concealed back zip with a hook and eye and has hidden in-seam pockets.
 I also love the length and I wore one of my petticoats (from ebay) underneath for a fuller swing skirt.

These blog photos were taken by my Mum at a lovely place called Bamboo Land which is a nursery and park-lands, and is also used for weddings and family picnics.  There were many beautiful spots for photos, such as bamboo trees, landscape gardens and plants, a river, statues and an old style train on the park-lands.

In other news over the weekend just gone my friend and follow blogger Vera Gin Vintage took photos of each other in two different outfits for future blog reviews!

Also I've been receiving a number of packages over the last week from Mr Postman and today I received a new camera a (Canon EOS 700) to take blog photos etc with, I just have to work out how to use it properly!
I'm going to try and sell my current camera, as it still works quite well.  But I wanted an upgrade for my blog photos.

Pippa Dungarees!

These awesome dungarees are from one of my favorite vintage inspired brands Collectif
As soon as I saw these dungarees come up for "sale" a little while ago and in my size I quickly bought myself a pair!
There dungarees are called Pippa Denim and I'm wearing the black denim ones but currently you can buy these dungarees in the blue denim from Collectif website.

I'm wearing size 14 and they fit me very well, so are true to size and are very comfortable to wear.   These dungarees are made out of 70% cotton, 28% polyester and 2% spandex.  They have front and back pockets, plus a extra pocket on the chest area. Belt lops, a zip and button closure on the side and adjustable shoulder straps, which can be crossed over on the back (which I prefer to do, just for extra comfort). As you can see in the photo below!

Under my dungarees I wore this blue & white stripped top also by Collectif which is called 50s Martina Boat neck T-shirt (unfortunately no longer available on the Collectif website) this top is made out of 95% cotton and 5% spandex and again fits really well on me, I ordered size 14.
I love the blue and white stripes and the boat neck style and I find I can wear this top with both jeans/trousers and skirts.

Also I'm in the Pinups on Parade in a couple of weeks time at Greazefest rockabilly festival in Brisbane, Queensland. So I'm really excited about this!

Getting to Know Mid Century Sweetheart!

Please allow me to introduce to you all to my blogger interview series this beautiful young lady Eleonora from Mid Century Sweetheart Eleonora lives in Croatia.  I've been following this lovely lady's blog now for a few months, and I really love her blog review's her wonderful vintage inspired style and stunning photos!

 Question:  How did you come up with the name Mid Century Sweetheart for your blog?

I wanted something that would immediately tell the reader what to expect. I love 40s and 50s fashion, that is my everyday style so I wanted to incorporate that into my blog name so Mid Century came instantly to my mind, the other part was tough. Sweetheart came to me when I was drying my daughters hair, I found it cute and appropriate.

 

Question:  Please describe your blogging style?

 

 I am a positive person so I always seek and try to point out the best in everything and I believe in the old saying If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all. So reviewing clothing, jewelry, bags etc I am always honest but never mean!  I love to write about clothes that is custom-made by my ideas, that is where my heart goes. I like to have professional photos for my blog but if that is not possible I go to nature with my mom, she is my backup photographer. 

 Question:  What inspired you to start blogging?

 

 I find my inspiration in many vintage/pin up bloggers but reading their posts sometimes I found something missing and by the time I decided to start a blog I had a lot of collaborations, lot of photos that were telling a story. I wanted to put that story out there, to tell others why and how much I love some products and brands. We live in a time when everything bad is louder than good, trolls are everywhere and compliments for hard work is hard to get. I wanted to write something nice about people and their goods in the pin up community.

 

Question:  Describe your fashion sense/style?

 

 After punk chick, rockabilly and modern pin up I found my heart in classic pin up. I find inspiration on Pinterest, Instagram and new movies and series that are set in the 40s and 50s. My style goes from 50s housewife to teen in saddle shoes with a lot of swing dresses and accessories. I love bangles and brooches, bright colors and novelty prints.

 Question:  Do you have any favorite bloggers and if so can you please name a few?

 

 Sure do! Junebugs and Georgia Peaches, Miss Amy May, Miss Psycho Cat, Miss Victory Violet, Alice in Retrospect, Miss Ginger Tulips, The vintage anatomy are the ones that came to my mind now, there are a lot of bloggers I follow.

 

Question:  What can your readers/followers expect from you and your blog over the next 12 months?

 

 This year started amazing, a lot of collaborations are coming up (Miss Fortune UK, Love ur look, Lady Luck's Boutique,...) also a few old and new clothing pieces that are made to measure to inspired gals who sew will be on the blog next weeks. I'm coming to UK this summer so I hope to grab some true vintage pieces, lingerie, hats and bags to share with my readers.

Peachy Keen!

This wonderful jumper is from UK clothing inspired brand Miss Fortune  which is called Bobbie Jumper - Peach Harlequin.
I love the harlequin print on this jumper (that's what attracted me the most) and also the Peach/orange/pink colours.  These harlequin jumpers have many different colour variations to choose from, which you can purchase from Miss Fortune's website.
These Bobbie Jumpers have short sleeves (which have some stretch and are not tight in the arms). They are cropped to high waist and are fitted. So would look good with high-waisted trousers/jeans, and pencil/swing skirts. I ordered size Large and it fits quite well on me and feels very comfortable to wear throughout the day.

I would recommend wearing these Bobbie Jumpers on a day when it's not too cold, unless you wear it under a jacket or even a cardigan on a really cold winters day.
These jumpers are made from 100% acrylic. I highly recommend on buying yourself one or even more of these gorgeous stylish jumpers!

Anyway back to these trousers they are made from a light-weight cotton so hopefully will be okay to wear in summer, on colder days I'd wear stockings/tights underneath.  There is a side zip and button to secure (plus small white faux buttons down one side). Only slight downside the cotton fabric crinkles really easily and these trousers are not as wide legged as I hoped. But still stylish and will look good matched with other tops/blouses/jumpers etc.

These blog photos were taken by my Mum down at a lovely place in Hervey Bay, Queensland called Arkarra Tea Gardens, which is located on two acres of beautiful, landscape natural gardens. You can enjoy having breakfast, lunch, tea/coffee/drinks out in the beautiful, relaxing surroundings.
Whilst my Mum, my sister and myself were enjoying lunch together we saw many bird wildlife, including Kookaburras here was one sitting above us.

In other news over the weekend I enjoyed taking blog photos of two different outfits (this outfit being one), going out for lunch with Mum and my sister on Saturday, catching up on my washing and some ironing.
I'm also eagerly waiting on some special parcels from Mr Postman to arrive, hopefully I get them soon! Apart from that just working etc.

Nicola and Alyssa!

As soon as I saw these pants on the Voodoo Vixen website I knew I had to have a pair for myself!  They are called Nicola.
I really love the floral print and the floaty/swing style to these pants.
They are made out of 100% polyester, have some stretch to them and are lined to the thigh.  Other great features is the elasticized back, which makes for a great fit and makes these pants very comfortable to wear.  These pants also have two reasonable size pockets on each side.

I ordered size XL in these pants which fit me quite well, the length though is somewhat quite long even for my 5 foot 8 inches height. Even with a pair of heels on, I had to be careful not to step on the hem too much!  I would suggest if your on the shorter side to maybe have these pants hemmed up to your preferred length.

To go with these pants I ordered this stylish red blouse which is also from Voodoo Vixen, this blouse is called Alyssa.
The blouse is made out of 60% viscose, 35% polyester and 5% elastane. I ordered size Large and it also fits nicely. I love the sweetheart bust neckline, the front tie, the lace short sleeves and higher neckline. This blouse also has a longer length and is a fitted cut.

Fairymead House is located on the grounds of the Botanical gardens in Bundaberg, Queensland.

In other news I've just been working and doing general chores etc at home, but I'm now on the countdown (5 to 6 weeks away),  until I'm on leave for two weeks! Yay!!

This weekend I hope to take more blog photos, as I have some outfits I really need to blog and share with you all!

Winter Days!

Over the last few weeks here in Queensland, Australia it's been cold enough to wear my winter outfits! That means finally wearing my vintage inspired jeans/trousers and jackets/cardigans. I don't really like the cold but I do love wearing winter vintage style fashions!

These trousers I'm wearing for this blog post is by Miss Candyfloss.  Which are slowly becoming one of my favorite vintage inspired brands to wear.  To date I own two jumpsuits and now these Katherine Hepburn style wide pants by Miss Candyfloss.  All three items of clothing are very comfortable, yet stylish to wear.
I ordered The Raven-Silvy-Katherine Hepburn wide pants in light grey, but other colours include olive green, petrol, turqouise, navy blue, black, grey and red.
Also I ordered the size Large and it fits my measurements nicely. 

These pants are made from a medium soft cotton with 3% spandex (these pants do have a stretch to them). Which is why they are very comfortable to wear.  Other features, there are two front deep pockets and line pockets on the back.  There is a side hidden zip (hidden in one of the front pockets) and a clip and button to secure.
Only small downside these pants are not as high-waisted and wide legged as I'd hoped they would have been.  But I still adore these vintage inspired comfortable trousers.
With these pants I decided to wear my short sleeve cardigan from Dangerfield Clothing from last year's collection (no longer available) and a jacket which was recently thrift-ed.

 In other news I had a great but busy weekend up in Bundaberg for my brother's 30th surprise birthday dinner on Saturday night and taking blog photos on Sunday morning with Miss Vera Gin Vintage.
The last few days I've just been working and today I caught up with a work friend for lunch.

Getting to Know Porcelina's World

Here's the next vintage inspired blogger lady I love to introduce to you all, to my blogger interview series Sarah from Porcelinas World
I've only been following Sarah's blog for a few months now, but already I'm enjoying reading her blog post's and admiring her blog photos!
As well as posting about her vintage & vintage reproduction outfits, Sarah posts about everyday lifestyle & social outings/get together's etc.

Question:  How did you come up with the name Porcelinas World for your blog?

 It seems unlikely now, but my music tastes used to be a little on the melancholy side.  'Porcelina' was a nickname taken from a song on a Smashing Pumpkins album, and it sort of stuck as I was very pale at the time!  I see more daylight these days and listen to a range of jovial music instead.

Question:  Please describe your blogging style?

 My blog is an outlet for anything vaguely vintagey that I get up to. Sometimes I want to share pictures of an outfit, or I might have been on a day trip somewhere exciting and want to encourage others to visit it.  My blog is lifestyle based rather than being solely outfit focused, and that's helped me keep it going - even if I am not able to get out and take outfit photos, I can share what I've been up to socially.  I blog because I enjoy it, and try and keep my blog a positive space.

 Question:  What inspired you to start blogging?

I started blogging as a way to connect to others who share my passion for vintage.  There are a lot of us out there!  These days, there are many Facebook groups and events that weren't around when I started blogging, so it's even easier now for vintage newbies to make connections with like-minded folk.  I have been meeting fellow vintage enthusiasts in person over the last couple of years, and that has been a lot of fun.  I have formed some firm friendships and would urge everyone to attend a meet if they can.

Question:  Describe your fashion sense/style?

 My wardrobe is a mix of vintage, repro and classic high street.  Much of it is from the car boot sale.  On an average day I tend to pick and mix from my favourite decades (20s to 70s) - I rarely go head to toe in one era.  I like to try out different styles and use different influences depending on my mood.  That can include Westernwear, folk, Art Deco, Poirot, Miss Fisher, novelty prints, nautical, rockabilly, Mad Men or Rosie the riveter!  For more regular snippets of my everyday wardrobe, please see my Instagram account (@porcelinasworld).

 Question:  Do you have any favorite bloggers and if so can you please name a few?

Instead of old favourites I'm going to name a couple of new-to-me bloggers: firstly, 'Of Pearls and Stars' is a blog run by a writer in Los Angeles with an impressive vintage collection and some impressive sewing and design talent.  Another new favourite is 'Finding Femme', an Australian blog showcasing the most wonderful photography of classic looks, with some great storytelling to accompany it.

 Question:  What can your readers/followers expect from you and your blog over the next 12 months?

More charity shop bargains, online shopping mishaps, overdressing, novice sewing, Welsh tourism and time-travelling!  I'm under increasing time pressure from my PhD, so this may mean a few less outfit posts but I still enjoy day trips and holidays in my time off (very important!) so travel will continue to feature quite heavily.  Next month I will be visiting North Wales, and there are upcoming vintage events locally, as well as a few cheeky afternoon teas planned.
